Therefore, there is happiness in the third aggregate of consciousness. Equanimity is the fourth aggregate of consciousness, as well as mental happiness and the mind's knower. Above that, according to circumstances, there are all aggregates of mental consciousness. Among them, in the second dhyana, there are mental happiness and equanimity. In the third, there are happiness and equanimity. Above that, there is only equanimity. Again, why? If it is generally uncertain, do doubt, happiness, and mental happiness, which operate in the form realm, exist equally? It is not happiness that operates in the desire realm, because the afflictions of the desire realm, which are free from attachment, are uncertain and unsuitable to exist in a sorrowful manner. Doubt also desires happiness with those and there. How so? Here, those who have attained the place of desire, even when tired, generate the thought of happiness. Others say that for those who operate in the form realm, happiness, mental happiness, and doubt are completely pacified. Ability is the meaning of existing equally. Mental happiness that operates in the desire realm is not pacified, so it is also seen to arise in a non-place. For example, those whose hands and feet are cracked, who have no food or clothing, who hold the mud of foul-smelling filth, who are extremely miserable, whose bodies are oppressed by heavy burdens, also sing and dance with great joy, and also see others numb with suffering. Therefore, doubt arises in a non-place, so those and these are not the same. Doubt also transforms into a thought of the virtuous side in the form realm. Others say, from where will those become happy? For those who have direct realization free from attachment, doubt mostly enters into correct certainty, so in the first, second, and third dhyanas, the realizations that arise together with doubt become aversion, others say. Those are naturally averse to those things. In order to eliminate the equal existence with mental happiness and suffering, because of entering in the form of arising and being the place of mind, these two differences.
