The Tathagata declared that even though the action has ceased, it still has the power to produce fruit, which is led by it, so he said that the action exists. The phrase "if it is not so" means if it shows that the past exists. Regarding "existing only in its own nature" and so on, if that action exists by its own characteristic, then as it happened, the past will not be established. Therefore, in this case, it is considered meaningful, not the former. The so-called "it must be so", why? Because the Buddha himself said that the past and the future do not exist, so the meaning of this sutra is only this, not what the Sarvastivadins fabricated. The so-called "if in the present time" means that in the present time, it arises from something that has not arisen in the present. This is unreasonable, because time is not different from things. It should be said that when it arises like this, it exists not differently from the eyes and so on. If it is not its own nature, how can it arise from it? Because it is not different from it. It is said like this: "They are the basis of time and speech." The so-called "the future eye does not exist, this has been established", if it arises from non-self-nature, then it should become that the eye arises from non-arising. Therefore, it is said that the future eye does not exist, this has been established. Teacher Dusang said: Like people and so on, it has not been blocked somewhere, so it is said that the past and the future exist, is this a definitive meaning? The non-definitive meaning should not be observed in other ways. The so-called "people exist", it is declared like this, but Manuṣyaka (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思) Mikyan has already blocked existence in the sutras and so on, so the sutras that say that it exists should be non-definitive. Likewise, "parents are the objects of killing" and so on should also be non-definitive, otherwise, those who commit the five heinous crimes will be born in hell immediately after death, so it is not like that either. He himself clearly said that the past and the future exist.

You said, and some consider it forbidden for it to appear only in that way. Therefore, these scriptures that prove the existence of the past and the future are in need of interpretation. What is said here is that if it were otherwise, the things of the past and the future themselves would not be established, because the things of the past and the future actions would not arise. Because the things of the truths of suffering and origin do not exist, cessation and path are also the same, because there are no four truths, so completely understanding, abandoning, manifesting, and practicing are also impossible. Because these do not exist, those who abide in the fruit and enter the fruit also do not exist. Therefore, by completely examining the literal meaning, all the scriptures that prove the existence of the past and the future contradict the Buddhist scriptures. Therefore, it must be determined that these scriptures are in need of interpretation, and are not of ultimate meaning. Furthermore, in the sutra of emptiness, which is the ultimate meaning, the past and the future themselves are negated from the perspective of substance. The eye arises from not having arisen, and having arisen, it disintegrates. Therefore, the arguments stated by those upholders are irrelevant, and because of the fear of extensive texts, the refutation was not elaborated. Some say this: Because the eye is of the nature of fire, it arises from the sphere of the sun and also dissolves into it. Similarly, others should also understand: The eye of the future will become the time of the present arising, and from the present arising it will become the past. Therefore, in order to recognize other objects, the eye arises from the nature of also entering into others, and also dissolves into it. In order to refute these, it is said that the eye does not come from anywhere when it arises, and it does not go anywhere when it ceases. In order to show one's own view, therefore it is said: Monks, the eye arises from not having arisen, and having arisen, it will again disintegrate. In this way, by completely abandoning the nature of clinging, the meaning of the sutra is established. Master Asanga says: Another statement, arising from not having arisen, refers to the meaning of arising from one's own causes and conditions, such as not having arisen and being in some place. Some
