The reason for saying "because it has become the nature of cessation" indicates that non-selective cessation has been attained. If so, then the teacher will appear to have abandoned darkness and become the very nature of complete non-regression, because selective cessation has been attained, others think so. Furthermore, just by saying "that which is destroyed," it is explained that selective and non-selective cessation have been obtained. Only selective cessation is obtained, because it has been completely destroyed, so it no longer arises and occurs. Therefore, the past and the future do not arise from decay, and what arises now is directed towards cessation, so it is said that there is no abandonment. To dispel this doubt, it is said, "because it has become the nature of non-arising later." Just as obtaining an antidote that did not exist before produces, so obtaining an antidote has subsequent non-arising, so it is said that obtaining an antidote is destruction. Others think that for some forms that are not understood, abandoning the afflictions that are aimed at it, even if it is completely abandoned, universal behavior will occur, so it should be distinguished. Because it has become the nature of non-arising later, it is destroyed, just like others, it is only the abandonment of the afflictions that are aimed at it, others say so. Because the antidote is obtained and completely abides, it is said that it is destroyed because it has become the nature of complete non-arising later. In this way, the cause of the arising of the six realms of the path that are contrary to the arising of afflictions, and the contradiction to the arising of the six realms of the seeds that produce afflictions, and because the forbearance of knowing the Dharma arises on suffering, the six realms that become the antidote to the afflictions to be abandoned will arise. Similarly, until the Vajra-like Samadhi, because it has manifested, the six realms that cut off all the seeds of universal ignorance, both afflictive and non-afflictive, will arise. Because these arise, there is no basis and no seed, so universal ignorance will not arise later. Therefore, it has become the nature of complete non-arising later.

Therefore, one is called "Bhagavan." Furthermore, because of having attained the antidote and having become of a nature that does not arise at all, it is said "Bhaga," which is closely related to this. Some have obtained a slight antidote to ignorance, and although they have eliminated the afflictions aimed at it, at some times the seeds still arise. Therefore, the Bhagavan is said to be "Bhaga" because having attained the antidote, all inauspicious seeds are completely uprooted, so later they do not arise at all. Then, in what way and where is it eliminated? To explain this, it is said, "Darkness is completely eliminated in all places." This Buddha Bhagavan knows because he has completely eliminated the darkness from all knowable things. Why has this Buddha Bhagavan completely eliminated the darkness in all places? Because the darkness, the ignorance, of all aspects of knowable things, by obtaining the antidote, later became of a nature that does not arise at all, so it is eliminated. This also explains that the Bhagavan himself has perfected his own purpose, perfected wisdom, and perfected abandonment. Among them, "Darkness is eliminated in all places" means the perfection of wisdom, that is, it shows the method of eliminating the darkness that hinders knowing all knowable things, and it explains that the Bhagavan's wisdom has no attachment or obstruction to all things. "Darkness is eliminated in all places" also shows the perfection of abandonment, because it is impossible for worldly people to abandon all ignorance that is afflicted. Abandonment will also arise later, because the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas practice non-afflicted ignorance. Their abandonment is not the perfection of abandonment. Only the Tathagata can transform all forms of delusion into a nature that does not arise at all later, therefore it is established as the perfection of abandonment. If attachment and so on also do not arise later for all knowable things, therefore it is not that all forms are completely eliminated, then why is the Bhagavan praised only through the elimination of ignorance? Because ignorance is the main thing. Also, it is to show the perfection of the teacher himself.

It is also like that. The teacher himself is perfect, that is, the wisdom that is unobstructed to all, and the means to lead beings out of the mire of samsara. If one is not good at benefiting others, or acts perversely, then it is not the Dharma. Here, it is shown that destroying the darkness that is contrary to knowing all knowable things, thereby realizing that the Bhagavan possesses unobstructed wisdom to all. Saying that destroying the afflictions of others is not so, the second and third lines of the verse show that one is good at entering the true meaning. Or, what is proclaimed is the destruction of the darkness of the opposing qualities that are superior for one's own benefit, not the destruction of the afflictions of others. The perfection of wisdom and the perfection of abandonment are also the superiority of benefiting the teacher himself. Since it is not destroying the afflictions of others, both of these can be accomplished by this, therefore it is said to destroy darkness. Or, it will be said only for the sake of showing the abandonment of all afflictions, because ignorance is the same as all afflictions and near afflictions, and is universally ignorant, and not one that does not arise again, thus it is the same as other afflictions and all afflictions. Therefore, by abandoning ignorance, even if it is not said to abandon other afflictions and near afflictions, it is established, because the antidotes are the same. Or, if the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas also say that by abandoning afflictions such as desire, they have abandoned all desires, etc., is that so? No, by proclaiming the difference between them and the teacher, the teacher and them are not the same in destroying darkness. Because the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas have non-afflictive ignorance. What is the meaning of explicitly proclaiming the two "completely destroying darkness"? If one says otherwise, then the difference between the Bhagavan and others will not be proclaimed. Thus, if one says "completely destroying darkness," then it will also apply to the Hearers, etc. Because they have also abandoned afflictive ignorance.
