Because they are gathered by the sense bases, the eight exhaustive sense bases are gathered by the dharma sense base. If they are with retinues, then they appear extensively. Among them, non-discriminating form is gathered by the form aggregate. The discriminating consciousness aggregate is gathered by the mind sense base. The rest are gathered by the dharma sense base. By the phrase "the overwhelming sense bases are also the same as this," those who are unattached and with retinues should be fully understood as being included within the nature of the five aggregates and the mind and dharma sense bases. The so-called exhaustive infinity of space and infinity of consciousness sense bases, among the ten exhaustive sense bases, especially the four, such as the infinity of space, namely space, consciousness, nothingness, and the sense base of neither perception nor non-perception, are of the nature of the four aggregates because they are formless followers. The five liberation sense bases appear extensively. For the first three liberation sense bases, the holders of the sutras consider them to be the sound sense base. The fourth, if it is spoken and thought about, then there are three sense bases, but if it is not, then it is gathered by the mind and dharma sense bases. The fifth also has mind and dharma sense bases. Therefore, those with retinues are gathered by the sound, mind, and dharma sense bases. What are the five liberation sense bases? The sutra says, "Here, a monk, when a teacher or a cohabitant in Brahma, or any position like a guru, teaches the Dharma, then for this, a teacher or a cohabitant in Brahma, or any position like a guru, teaches the Dharma, then just as they teach the Dharma, so too will they correctly understand the individual meanings of those Dharmas and correctly understand the individual Dharmas. From correctly understanding the individual meanings and correctly understanding the individual Dharmas, great joy will arise. From great joy, mental joy will arise. If there is mental joy, the body will become very pliant. Because the body is very pliant, happiness will be experienced. If there is happiness, the mind will be placed in equanimity. If the mind is placed in equanimity, then one will fully know as it is."
