It is said to be like that. Regarding the objects that also enter as the basis of consciousness, the objects that are approached are mentioned: eyes and ears are mentioned first because the objects are far away. Among them, the eye enters the farthest place. Among the three, nose, tongue, and body, which is the clearest? Just as the nose can distinguish subtle smells, the tongue cannot distinguish tastes; just as the tongue can distinguish tastes, the body cannot distinguish cold and heat. If only the consciousness can enter the forms, etc., experienced by the eyes, etc., then how do sleepers grasp the objects of form, etc.? Some say that it arises from the memory of previous experiences. If that is not the case, then the blind can also discern form, just as when waking up, one only recalls the dream, because I have not grasped form, etc., so I experience that this is a dream, which is remembered from before falling asleep. This is not because he has not completely cut off the object, so the experience itself is not discerned in the dream. If it is said that it was also experienced in other lives, then, if that is the case, the blind should also be able to discern form in dreams, because it was experienced in other lives. The fact that the blind cannot see form in dreams is not established, therefore dreams may also be other previous objects, so it is explained in various treatises. Whatever is experienced by eye consciousness and whatever is to be known by mind consciousness are explained as they are. It is certain that the five are not different from each other. The reason for being manifest means that whatever objects of form, etc., are near in dreams the object, that is the connection of manifestation. Now, speaking of the treatise, that is also the appearance of form, and like the realm of space, it makes the field without obscuration. If its form is the shape of an elephant, horse, mountain, tree, etc., and it makes the field without obscuration, so that its shape is seen as it is; or even if it is not its shape, because form is discerned in the dream, so discerning what does not exist, that can be known. Analyze this separately.

Other, because of that reason, it is enough to talk about it incidentally. Now let's start writing the main text: Only for those sense faculties and objects, they are considered the twelve ayatanas and eighteen dhatus. There, the ten ayatanas with form are said to be the nature of the form aggregate. In "All dharmas have no distinction," all ayatanas are said to be the nature of dharma, therefore the question: And why, etc., even if there is no difference in the nature of form, one is called the form ayatana, and the others are not. Or like the sound and other ayatanas, why not use other names? Also, what is the need to express only with the form ayatana? Similarly, the dharma ayatana should also be expressed, if asked. Answer: Because there is a difference in meaning, etc., it is to let people know that those who have no difference in the nature of form are each ayatana. What is the difference? That is the name of the difference. If, because it is the nature of form, all ten are called the form ayatana, then the eye, etc., and the form, etc., will not be understood as objects and object-possessors respectively. If these are not understood, then they will not know that they are each ayatana. For this purpose, even if there is no difference in the nature of form, one is called the form ayatana, and then sound, etc., are placed as ayatanas of other names.
