It is said. Others say that in the meditations of birth, because one can separately recognize and observe the differences of all formations (saṃskāra), the form realm (rūpadhātu) is distinguished by feeling (vedanā). That which is distinguished by perception (saṃjñā) is the three formless realms (arūpadhātu), because their characteristics are clear, so perception is the main one. Equanimity (upekṣā) is common, because there is no distinction, so it is not the main one. Others say that because there is no body, it is distinguished by the perception of space, etc., therefore it is distinguished by perception. That which is distinguished only by formation is the peak of existence (bhavāgra), because compared to all these, it has a greater result for the mind. Distinguishing is making it clear, which is a synonym, that is, wherever, whichever is the main one, it is clearly indicated by it. These are the places where consciousness abides, that is, the desire realm (kāmadhātu) which is close to form, the form realm which is close to feeling, the three formless realms which are close to perception, and the peak of existence which is close to formation. Consciousness abides in these places because they have the power of the moisture of craving. In order to show the order like a field and a seed, the field is first and the seed is later. Just as the aggregates previously mentioned are shown in the order of fields, because of the causes such as grossness, the aggregates are neither less nor more than five. In order to connect what was said earlier, that is, in order to connect the cause of the order, it appears extensively. In "by its power" etc., how is it? Because it is the main support of the object-possessor, therefore establishing the object is due to the power of the object-possessor. Power is dependence. Establishing the support is also the power of the support. Among the six faculties, the first five are the eye etc. Why? Because "for the sake of the present meaning", that is, because the objects of these are present, therefore the object of the present meaning is particularly grasped as the present meaning itself, and because it arises in the present, therefore their objects were mentioned earlier. The mind (manas) is some

It arises in such a way, like knowing the minds of others. Some have objects of the three times and timelessness, the object of the consciousness aggregate that has passed, such as the consciousness of remembering past lives. The object of the future, such as the consciousness of desire. Some have objects of the three times, such as the impermanence of conditioned phenomena. Some have objects of timelessness, such as focusing on cessation. Some have objects of the three times and timelessness, such as thinking that all phenomena are selfless. Therefore, the mind is uncertain, so it is discussed later. 'The meaning that changes from arising is the object,' this is called, except for the touch mentioned earlier, those that change from arising are the objects of this. Other arising things are also uncertain to be its object, so it is the fourth. It is then said that the reason why smell is perceived even when food does not touch the tongue is called this. If it is said that if the nose only perceives the smell that relies on the mass of food that has not touched, then it will be harmful to the very act of the nose touching and perceiving, as some say. The juice mixed with food quickly reaches the object of the nose, because it is of the same kind, the smell that relies on the juice is called the smell of food. Relying on one's own four elements is the smell of food, that is, relying on the great elements. Others say that the shadow itself is what is grasped by the order of the rows of trees entering. Also, why is it that in whatever is the smell of the subtle particles of the eight substances, the color mentioned there follows, like shadows and appearances, the touch called a garland also dwells there. The three are determined by the power of the place, how the ear faculty dwells, it changes according to that order. 'The mind also relies on them,' is called the nature of the five aggregates of consciousness, and the nature of the five aggregates of consciousness of the mind, and the nature of the consciousness aggregate of the mind, these six are not form, so they do not dwell in the object. Others say that the first five are the five objects of its activity, from which of the three, which is the one that enters most clearly and for a long time. For example, in the order of places, the eye and so on first enter the object, and the mind enters after them.
