Thus it is. Mind and mental events arise and become the self's objects. Therefore, they are the cause of the growth of mind and mental events, so they are called sources of arising, that is, they cause to grow, to increase, to become the self's objects and to make them continue. As it is said in the scriptures, the Brahmin, through the door of the eye, in order to see forms, these six themselves are suitable as the meaning of door. The meaning of the door of mind and mental events is the twelve, because it is said in the scriptures that relying on the eye, for forms, eye consciousness arises, and from the aggregation of the three, contact arises, and along with it, feeling and perception arise. The meaning of lineage is the meaning of realm, if asked how it is understood, it is because of the similarity of lineage. Therefore, for example, some mountains, etc., are extensively spoken of, for example, the lineage of gold and seeds is called realm. As a basis or continuum, etc., it is extensively explained, referring to the same continuum of body or mind and mental events. Others say that it refers to the same continuum of moments. The eighteen lineages refer to the eighteen seeds being called the eighteen realms. Because it is the cause of having equal share, it is said that the root of the eye is the root of the eye, which is the cause of the equal share of what is born later and what is not born, and similarly, it should be said for others as well. If asked, will the unconditioned become non-realm? Because there is no prior and later, it is not the cause of equal share of anyone. It is the object and dominant condition of mind and mental events, therefore, even the unconditioned is established as a source of arising. Even so, the meaning of sources of arising and realms will become undifferentiated, because both are the sources of arising of mind and mental events. Therefore, others say that the word realm is a word for lineage. For example, lineages such as gold are different from each other, and so are eyes, etc. Thus, because it becomes a lineage, the word realm is a word for lineage. Nature refers to nature.

Because it is its own nature through distinguishing other kinds, although it is said to be synonymous, it is not the nature of substance. The various realms will not be the same either. The six are not the difference of the kinds of the dependent and the depended because of the difference of kinds, but the difference of the time of establishment, or from the previous six themselves, they are also the six mind realms. Because it precedes others, it is very clearly divided into the three times, and all of these are named depending on what they exist in. Mind precedes others, so it becomes the six consciousness realms. If it is said that in the future time, how can they precede others? Because mind and realm are the same, they are called the six consciousness realms. The Vaibhashikas think that just like the ayatanas and dhatus, the skandhas are also substantially existent. Aggregates are also the nature of being composed of many substances, and because substantial existence exists, it is impossible for aggregates to exist, so they think and ask: If the meaning of aggregate is skandha, are aggregates and persons the same? Just like grains etc. are aggregates established by many substances, so they are imputed aggregates, not substantially existent, because grains etc. are clearly visible, so there is no attachment. Similarly, even the thousands of form skandhas of a person are not substantially existent, just as the sutra says: Just as the name 'chariot' is applied because of the collection of limbs, so conventionally sentient beings are spoken of because of the collection of skandhas. Similarly, if the past and future etc. are the nature of the collection of substances, then the skandhas will also become imputed existences, which is not what is desired, so another meaning of skandha must be said, no, because even one atom is a skandha, so a single atom is also called a skandha, otherwise, the skandhas have no self-nature, so the skandhas will not contain the self-nature of dharmas like the ayatanas and dhatus. If the skandhas are imputed existences, not self-nature, then this contradicts others. Then, is the meaning of aggregate the meaning of skandha? No, first of all, the aggregate mentioned here refers to the aggregate of meaning.
