It is thought to be so, and it should be said to others in the same way. Some say that since eye consciousness and so on do not have discrimination, they cannot distinguish objects. When eye consciousness arises in a distinguished object that has a single material cause and has not touched the self-nature of other materials, it is called distinguishing its aspect. After the eye consciousness grasps a thing that is far from the self-nature of other materials, the mind consciousness gradually discriminates through distinguishing other things. Therefore, it is not contradictory for eye consciousness to distinguish its aspect. Because there is an opportunity to grasp color and shape nearby. For example, mentioning the deployment of troops from a distance, etc. The same should be understood for ear consciousness and so on. Sometimes, one substance produces ear consciousness, and when distinguishing its aspect, it will be said, "This is the sound of a drum, not the sound of a conch." Sometimes, ear consciousness is produced by many substances, and when its aspect is not distinguished, it is like hearing noisy sounds and the sounds of many songs. Regarding body consciousness, sometimes it is produced by one substance, and when distinguishing its aspect, it will be said, "This is cold, not hot; this is soft, not rough." Sometimes it is produced by two substances, that is, two elements or two substances transformed from elements. Sometimes it is produced by three to five substances, that is, various elements and softness, etc. are produced by one substance, while roughness, etc. depend on the combination of other four elements. All substances will also produce effects in detail. Here, the saying "if there are very many" should also be followed, that is, seeing the nature of heaviness, coldness, and roughness grasped at the same time without distinguishing them. Therefore, six, seven, or even eleven substances can also allow people who jump and swim to experience warmth and cold at the same time. Some people will feel hungry and

Also, the tactile sensations of the body are such that the consciousness of the body, having eleven tactile objects, arises without differentiation. Thus, regarding "because it is based on the general characteristics," and so on. In the Abhidharma, the five aggregates of consciousness are established as objects of their own characteristics. Therefore, regarding the objects of consciousness, which are not differentiated, such as blue, because they apprehend based on general characteristics, they are objects of general characteristics, and because they apprehend the general characteristics of blue, etc., based on general characteristics, they will become objects of general characteristics, other schools argue in this way. Other schools argue that these five aggregates of consciousness are objects of general characteristics because they are based on all their own objects. Just as all phenomena are without self, this is an excellent combination. Therefore, these are "the nature of one's own sense base," etc., explained extensively. In the scriptures, regarding the nature of the sense bases, it is said that they are objects of their own nature, and the nature of one's own sense base is also the general characteristic of blue, long, etc., therefore it will be admitted that it is an object of general characteristics, therefore it is establishing what is to be established. Some people think that because one's own sense base is produced by many things, there is no difference from the general characteristic, and because these exist as objects without differentiation, they are objects of general characteristics, but not the general characteristic itself, because that is imputed, and consciousness is also explained as selfless by this. Otherwise, the knowledge of one's own nature, such as blue, etc., will also become an object of general characteristics, because it is produced by many things of minute particles. Here, the unestablished reason, example, and the absence of the property to be established should also be considered. Also, what is the nature of the sense base? What is the nature of the object? The eye, etc., consciousness has the same co-existence, and as something that can be relied upon and can be objectified, just as it exists, the sense bases such as the eye, etc., and the objects such as form, etc., are the nature. Among them, only the eye consciousness arises on the object of the eye faculty, and not from other places, therefore these are dependent on the nature of the sense base.
