Furthermore, other distinctions are not mentioned because they are limitless due to the differences in those mixtures. The different order is to show that the arising of consciousness with it as its object is not definite. It is called four kinds of smells because it is to be smelled, so it is smell, and that is also four kinds. Fragrant and foul smells, equal and unequal smells, are four kinds because they are equal and unequal. From the category, fragrant and foul smells, it shows that there are only two kinds. Also, the third equal smell mentioned in the scriptures, some think it should be classified as fragrant, and some think it should be classified as foul, so from the category, the third is not wrong. That, whether it arises from equality or from inequality, is because it is another distinction of entering dependent on the support, some think so. Others think that the three kinds in the scriptures are due to the difference between small and large amounts, namely fragrant, foul, and equal smells. The scriptures also do not mention unequal, fragrant, and foul smells, but other than that, they commonly mention fragrant smells, and only apart from fragrant and foul smells, the scriptures mention equal smells, others think so. Among them, what increases the great elements of the senses and samadhi is the fragrant smell. The opposite is the foul smell. Especially, what lacks both is the equal smell. It is called eleven kinds of tangible objects, so-called what can be touched, so it is tangible object, or the body's sense can touch, so it is tangible object. If someone touches something, then it should also be touched by it, then wouldn't the body's sense also become a tangible object? The body's sense is what can touch, not what is touched, just like the eye. The eye is what can see, not what is seen. Something touches something, or the support and object are not separated, that is, the consciousness based on the sense of touch, taking the object as the object, that is touching the object, so it is close-taking, not the support of the object and consciousness. Therefore, the body's sense touches the great elements themselves, so it is close-taking. The consciousness of forms and so on based on it.
