There is no death or rebirth for one who abides in a mind of equipoise. Why not? Because it is an unequal place. One born in another place and abiding in the mind of another place will not die, transmigrate, or be born in another place. Now, when does one have a mind of equipoise in one's own place at the time of death and birth in the realm of form or the realm of formlessness? Therefore, it is said, "Because it arises from manifestation and is a benefactor." Even the mind of equipoise in one's own place will not die or be reborn. Because it depends on combination, it arises from manifestation. Because it possesses extreme taming, it is a benefactor. The mind that arises from manifestation is clear, so it is a destroyer and follower. The mind of death is a harmer, and equipoise is a benefactor. Therefore, it is not possible to die or transmigrate from it. Since the mind of birth is afflicted and equipoise is virtuous, it is not appropriate to be born from it either. That state is weak, and equipoise is clear because it arises from manifestation, so since it is not in that state, how can there be birth from equipoise? Even an unequal afflicted one, even if abiding there for the sake of benefit, will die and transmigrate. Because it arises from manifestation, there is no birth. How does that unequal afflicted one, that excellent place, cause birth in another place of conditions? It also does not exist without mind, so it is said, combine the two, death and birth. Without mind means without perception, entering into cessation, and abiding near the state of non-perception. Unable to harm means by poison, weapons, vajra, and so on. Therefore, it is shown that there is no death or rebirth without mind. When one enters into cessation and the samadhi of non-perception, or possesses non-perception, when that which was thrown by previous karma is exhausted,

The term "when the body is completely transformed" means that it is in accordance with the similar class drawn by previous karma, and abides in that time. The term "related to the body" means that it abides in the body as the nature of a seed. Others say that it is related to attachment to the body. Others say that since it is certain that the mind arising from the cause immediately following the similarity, that is, the mind abiding equally, will arise, then at that time, the mind related to the body will undoubtedly manifest. Because the arising of dharma drawn by the cause immediately following the similarity cannot be denied by anyone. The sutra says, "All these minds generate consciousness, and then die and transfer from that place." From this, it is known that without mind, there is no death and transfer. The so-called "because there is no cause for the cessation of mind," the cause for the cessation of mind is the samadhi of cessation, etc. These do not occur at the time of birth. Others say that the mind from the fourth dhyana to the peak of existence is the cause of the cessation of mind. The so-called "temporarily there is no existence" means that birth is not entirely afflicted. Without mind, afflictions will not arise, so without mind, there is no birth. "Ananda, if consciousness does not enter the mother's womb..." and so on are explained in detail. The existence of death is divided into three types, because the sutra says "other three types." For an Arhat, there is no afflicted mind. Then what is it? It is virtuous and neutral. Among them, there are two types: Nirvana and non-specified. Here it is said that only two types of non-specified can attain Nirvana, not only Arhats can attain Nirvana. Only death without connection is called Nirvana. The so-called "if there is equanimity of fruition in the desire realm," some say that there is no intermediate state below. Why? Because "the difference of dhyana is the result of fruition, there is no before and after, three fruitions, therefore the desire realm." This is said by following the views of some people. Some people think that from the third dhyana and above, the karma felt is neither happiness nor suffering.
