The dharmas like earth are called 'close conduct,' and similar things should be said about places like pleasant feeling and equanimity. Among them, the close conducts of pleasant feeling, unpleasant feeling, and equanimity, when all are combined, become eighteen. How are these established? In detail, because pleasant feeling, unpleasant feeling, and equanimity have different natures from each other, there are only three close conducts of pleasant feeling, unpleasant feeling, and equanimity, not eighteen. From association, there is only one close conduct of mind, because everything is associated with mind. From the object, it becomes six, not eighteen. How so? Pleasant feeling, unpleasant feeling, and equanimity that focus on form are the close conduct of form itself, and similarly, those that focus on dharma are up to the close conduct of dharma itself, so it becomes six, not eighteen. It is also established in the three, which means from nature, association, and object. How so? Pleasant feeling and so on have different natures, and are associated with mind, and each is also an object of the six realms of form and so on. Thus, from the three, distinctions are also made, so it becomes eighteen. If it were not so, in the distinction of nature, there would be no close conduct of pleasant feeling, unpleasant feeling, and equanimity, so it would not become the category of being associated with mind. It would not become the close conduct of mind, because in the distinction of object, there is no pleasant feeling and so on, so it would not become six different types. Therefore, it would not become the eighteen close conducts of mind. Because it focuses on the distinct determination of form and so on, the object of pleasant feeling and so on that focuses on form is form itself, not other realms, and it is the same up to those that focus on touch, therefore, the fifteen close conducts of form and so on focus on the unmixed. Close conduct of dharma

The so-called "three are two forms" means that they are both based on mixing and not mixing. This is to explain the meaning of the forms. If form, etc., or eye, etc., or form, etc., are mutually related to dharma, then it is based on mixing. If only the dharma realm is related and not others, then it is based on not mixing. The so-called "based on mind" is a broad statement. The so-called "based on" means based on. The so-called "because it turns near to the object" means that it is related to the objects repeatedly. The so-called "repeatedly" is because it is a word meaning near. The word "say also" clarifies the views of other schools. Thus, because it relies on the mind and turns near to the objects, those that are compatible and incompatible with the mind also become the turning near of the mind. The so-called "because the mind turns near to the objects" means to repeatedly cause entry. It means to enter by repeatedly pervading. This is not only based on the mind, then what is it? It also depends on the eye, etc. The so-called "not turning near" means not truly knowing, because it is combined with unknowing consciousness. This is said in terms of the first and second cases, meaning that the mind does not cause entry into the objects. Mental pleasure, etc., are because of discrimination, so by virtue of it, they repeatedly enter the objects. The so-called "pleasure of the third dhyana" is a broad statement. If the feeling that only depends on the mind is the turning near of the mind, then it should also be said that just as the equanimity of the third dhyana turns near, pleasure also acts by turning near, because the pleasure of the third dhyana is the place of the mind. Therefore, it is said "first in the desire realm," first means the beginning. The word "say also" is the answer.

English
Because that is meaningless. Because the desire realm does not have the pleasure associated with mind, it is not established. Then, the upper realms have the pleasure of mind, but it is not established either, what is the reason for this? The near-going of the mind will surely become endowed with antidotes, what is the reason for this? If so, then equanimity would not become the characteristic of near-going, because it is not the antidote to near-going. Then what is it? It is the cause of becoming near-going. Some say that the pleasure of the third dhyana is stable, while near-going is unstable. Therefore, it is called the near-going of the mind. If so, then the near-going of the fourth dhyana becomes equanimity. What is called a place like mental pleasure refers to things that produce mental pleasure. This refers to what is accomplished by the five aggregates of consciousness, and it is said only with that in mind, meaning that it is said only with the mind considering what is guided by these and what is produced by these. For example, like the contemplation of impurity, it is said in the sutras that after the eyes see forms, they look at and abide in the aspect of impurity, therefore it is accomplished by eye consciousness, because one has previously seen what is repulsive, etc. It is also related to the mind, because these will arise afterwards. Furthermore, it will be explained in detail starting from seeing. If it were said that the eyes would go near to forms like places of mental pleasure, then this could be blamed. However, because the sutras speak of the content from seeing to touching, this cannot be blamed. If one has not seen, how can one go near to between not touching? Because one hears from others, the mind will go near to what is said. Otherwise, it will be explained in detail in the desire realm, the eye, etc., belonging to the desire realm, will not grasp the form, sound, and touch belonging to form. In the form realm, those who take the desire realm as their object refer to those born in the form realm, who will not grasp the smell and taste belonging to the desire realm.
