In order to show the meaning of grasping, it is said, for example, "from others" and so on. If ignorance exists, it will arise in detail. Thus, when ignorance arises, actions arise. If only ignorance exists, they will arise, but if others exist, it is not so. Similarly, it should also be said to others. Or, if this limb exists, this will arise, which arises in detail. If ignorance exists, actions will arise, and when actions arise, consciousness will also arise. Thus, the transmission of the twelve limbs is shown. Or, if the prior extreme exists, it will arise in detail. In order to show that the present extreme arises from the prior extreme, it is said, "If this exists, this will arise." In order to show that when the present extreme arises, the future extreme arises, it is said, "When this arises, this will arise." Or, sometimes it arises. Among them, if it is temporarily shown directly, it is when afflicted actions arise immediately after ignorance. Through transmission, it is when merit and immovability arise. For that, ignorance is not directly the nature of the cause. Others say that karma existing in its own nature is direct, and the existence of habitual tendencies is through transmission. For this, ignorance is directly capable of actions, but for consciousness and so on, it is through transmission, and explaining it separately like this contradicts the explanation, because both are shown only for actions. By "If this exists, this will arise," the proponents of causelessness are refuted, because without a cause there is no result. By "When this arises, this will arise," the proponents of permanent cause are refuted, because only what arises is the cause, and what has not arisen is not the cause, so it will be explained. For this conceptualization, if this exists, this will arise, this is meaningless. Why? Because only through "When this arises, this will arise" are both of what is said eliminated, because the impermanent cause is completely grasped. In order to answer this refuter again, then for which ones and so on is said in detail. In "actions and so on," the word "and so on" is equal to consciousness.
