Yes, because things like "slimy" (mer mer gyi) arise from the soft and slippery (nur nur po). Regarding "establishing charnel grounds," etc., a charnel ground is a charnel ground, made to increase by repeated deaths. The arising of form that is included in the continuum of the intermediate state's form is not like that; it should be regarded as in the manner of a seed and sprout. A non-sentient manifestor should not become the seed of a sentient manifestor, because from the distinction of the continuum, the forms of sentient and non-sentient manifestors cease simultaneously. That which arises from a sentient manifestor and a non-sentient manifestor is also not other than a sentient manifestor that is not of a different kind. Others say, "It is only other arisings," regarding this, the arisings of the intermediate state that are related to the arisings of the soft and slippery cease together with the soft and slippery, and when those cease, other cooperative conditions rely on the soft and slippery, becoming the cause of other arisings that possess sense faculties and do not agree in characteristics with the previous arisings. For example, like a leaf worm, regarding this, relying on the arisings of the leaves, those arisings that arise from actions become the nature of the support of the sense faculties, but the great arisings of the leaves are not the support of the worm. Why? Because it is not specified from each piece of the leaf. If that is so, then is there a contradiction with the sutra that says, "Arising from the impure soft and slippery of the father and mother"? The answer to that is, because it is said considering arising in dependence on impurity, it is said in detail, considering that the great arisings of those sense faculties arise in dependence on semen and blood, and having thought about it, it is said, "Arising from the impure soft and slippery of the father and mother," therefore there is no contradiction with the sutra, just as a worm that arises in dependence on a leaf is a leaf worm, so too the soft and slippery that arises in dependence on the impurity of the father and mother is also the impure soft and slippery of the father and mother. For the time being, in the desire realm, entering into the birthplaces of egg-born and womb-born is like that. "Other" refers to moisture-born and miraculously born.

to the places of birth, etc. "As appropriate" means that there are other desires for smells and places, and should be connected to "going to the place to go." If someone asks, "How would one want to live in hells?" This is a question raised because hells are places of fear. "In what state" refers to the time of butchers, etc., or blind people, etc. As it is said: How changing and experiencing it, what was done before is like a dream. After seeing such beings, they will rush violently to hell. This is what the previous teachers of the Yogachara school said. Again, if asked, "How does the intermediate state being go to the place of birth?" To this, the so-called "intermediate state being of the gods," etc., will be explained in detail. "Like rising from a seat" is for the sake of being born in a higher place. Regarding "humans, animals, and hungry ghosts, etc.," the intermediate state being of humans is like a human. The intermediate state being of animals is like an animal. The intermediate state being of hungry ghosts is like a hungry ghost, because walking with the back is the reason for being a hungry ghost. Again, if asked, "Why is there no intermediate state being in the formless realms?" It is because of abandoning the throwing of that karma, the power of that karma, the complete combination by which the power of that karma is manifestly accomplished. Karma increased by afflictions can throw fruit, and it is unreasonable to be without afflictions, because even if there is karma, it cannot throw birth. On the coarse and subtle grounds, the karma and fruit of its nature are not manifested by the body, nor are they sentient beings liberated from both parts, nor are they sentient beings of unequal worldly eons. The sense faculties of the intermediate state being are not distracted. The cause of seeing is that when desiring objects of enjoyment, one abandons the subtle increases, etc., that should be abandoned. If someone asks, "Do all intermediate state beings enter the womb due to inverted confusion?" The answer is no. However, there are four ways of entering the womb, which will be explained in detail. "There are four ways of entering the womb" is the thought that there is no other reason for the difference between entering the womb, abiding, and emerging. Even if the mind is afflicted, the cognition and intention are not inverted.
