That is to say, because it says "arising from the seed of karma," therefore the seed is called arising. It will be declared in this way, that the word arising refers to the seed. The intermediate state (antarabhava), because it has not reached the place to be traveled to, is not arising, so what is it? It is in the process of arising. Because of the phrase "the seed is," it shows that the word arising refers to the seed. Others say: What is the place it is to travel to, and it does not yet possess that, meaning it does not possess that place. Therefore, even if other Vipaka (fruits of maturation) are produced, it is not called arising, and it is precisely for this reason that it is called the intermediate state because of the arising between the states of existence of birth, this is how it is shown. Where is it said that "the Vipaka is thrown"? By the karma of the act of throwing, the similar kind is manifestly accomplished, and by the act of perfecting, it is perfected, one throws one birth, not many perfecting acts, that is to say, for all births, two karmas are at work. Others say that in "only after the cessation of the state of death," etc., only after the end of the state of death, the nature of existing between the arising of the state of birth in another place, is not the meaning of other causes preceding. In the phrase "from reason and scripture," because reason and scripture alone are not valid cognition (pramana), both are juxtaposed. In the phrase "similar to the continuity of grain," it is explained in detail that if it is thought that only the state of death can produce the state of birth in other places, then the state of birth will become impossible to exist, because it is a continuous entry. Like this, because it is a continuous entry, things are not seen to arise in other places after cessation, for example, the fruits of grain belonging to the continuity of grain, just as they grow through the continuous connection. Because these have the state of continuous entry, they are continuously entering. Because it is said "in other places," it is also not that the continuity of mind is undetermined, because there is mind when arising from the Samadhi of cessation and the Samadhi without perception, so cessation at other times is called

Similarly, it should be said that for those who die and transmigrate from the formless realm, the arising of form bodies is not interrupted in other places. It is also seen that the color of the fruit arises from the color of the cause, for example, just as an image arises from a color, which means that it arises from a mistaken cause. "Because the image is not established," etc., this shows that because there is nothing intended to be expressed, it is uncertain. What are the dharmas that have objects? They are mind and mental factors. What are the dharmas that do not have objects? They are form and the unconditioned, and those that are not endowed with them. Because it is said in the scriptures that an image is an object of mind and mental factors, does it exist? In order to answer this question, it is said, "Because they are different, it is not a metaphor." "The difference in color is different" means that what is different from the color of the mirror is the difference in color. It is not possible to convince people with words alone, so the question is asked, "How is it not established for the time being?" "In that place" means that because it is located on the side, in the place of the mirror, the color of the mirror can be seen, but the image cannot; because it is located in front, the image can be seen, but the color of the mirror cannot. In this way, to sum up, both appear there. Others say that because they face forward, both can be seen. Therefore, it is impossible for two appearances to exist simultaneously in one mirror, so there the image is not produced from the color of the mirror. "Because the arising of the support is different" means that the arising of the support of these two is different, and in the object held by the arising of the support of the color of the mirror, there is no place for the arising of the support of the color of the image, because it is obstructed. Therefore, it is impossible for two colors that are the cause to arise simultaneously there. Similarly, "Those who are in other directions," etc., are explained in detail. How does one person in a different direction see the color of the trees, etc., behind him, and others are the same. Among them, one person sees the trees, etc., in the place in front of him.
