It is finished explaining. Now, sentient beings are to be discussed. These beings are not known to be in which places, therefore, the three realms that have been discussed, there are the five realms such as hells. It is said that they are indicated by their own names. Because the object of reliance and the object of relying are seen as distinct. Precisely because of this, it is written here in detail, with what to explain that these are realms? In the realms, not only are there sentient beings, then what is there? There are also non-sentient beings. Those are virtues and afflictions, etc., which will be explained in detail. Here, in order to explain that non-sentient beings exist in the realms, it is said that sentient beings are in the realms. Non-afflicted, non-specified. Saying non-afflicted is to distinguish afflictions. Saying non-unspecified is to exclude virtue. Saying sentient being is to exclude the vessel world. Sentient beings are only unobscured and unspecified. This is because it is the nature of being a result of maturation. This will be said to be showing those as sentient beings, because showing as sentient beings can have maturation. If it is not like this, sentient beings will be confused, meaning that sentient beings are of a mixed nature, without difference. If one does not want to admit that sentient beings are merely unspecified, then most sentient beings also possess the virtues and afflictions of other sentient beings. But they are not unspecified, because their attainment is co-emergent. Or, all the actions that sentient beings accomplish are the cause of sentient beings such as humans, and those sentient beings also belong to other sentient beings. If it is like this, then there will be a fault in sentient beings such as humans, that is, there exist sentient beings of hells, etc. Sentient beings are not without being shown as sentient beings, nor are they the nature of the intermediate existence, from where is this understood? Because it has been pointed out in the scriptures. It is also explained in detail from imputation. From the four births, the five realms can be summarized, from where it appears, the birth places are mind.

Because it is only called "earth," beings are also only called "sentient beings." Thus, it will be understood. If beings were not called "sentient beings," they would not gather in places of birth, just as places of birth do not gather in beings. What is meant by "the five destinies are the four births"? It is not included, but rather combined with the context. If the nature of the container becomes beings, because it acts, it is a being. The five are also humans, etc. If it acts through the way of producing the container, becoming a being, then it would be too chaotic. What is not included? From the emergence of the "intermediate state," although it is included by the place of birth of transformation, because it is not included in beings, it should be understood that the intermediate state is not a being. If it were not so, then it would also be included by beings, like the state of birth, etc. Therefore, the intermediate state is not the nature of beings. Also, regarding the statement that beings are not the intermediate state, the second treatise's example is that it is also explained in detail in the *Dharma Skandha Sutra*. From here, just as from something arising from meditation, the intermediate state is also shown separately, distinct from the sense faculty of the eye of hells, etc. Therefore, just as from something arising from meditation, it is not included by the beings of hells, etc., so it will be explained that the intermediate state is the nature of beings. Otherwise, the sense faculty of the eye of hells, etc., also indicates the intermediate state, so why mention it again? In the treatise, the intermediate state is separated from beings, not only that, but what is it? In the sutra, it is also explained in detail that the intermediate state is separated from beings. The source of the intermediate state not being the nature of beings, and beings not being indicated in the scriptures, is this separate mention from hells, etc., of karmic existence and the intermediate state. Regarding the statement "it is explained as having a cause and having beings," the cause of beings is karmic existence, and beings are the intermediate state, because it acts through it.
