For the sake of the teachings, the merit of practicing in the form realm, and the obscurations at the time of connecting with the intermediate state, and the two kinds of afflictions that are practiced in the desire realm at the time of connecting with the intermediate state. That "as it is" and so on will be explained in detail. Regarding "with the afflicted ones who practice in the desire and form realms," like this, in the lower realms, for those who have not separated from desire, there is no connection with the intermediate state in the formless realm. Therefore, it is also not arising from the samadhi of a learner or non-learner, so that will not arise from the five. That is, at the time of connecting with the intermediate state, it arises from the merit of practicing in the desire and form realms, and from things that are unobscured and unindicated. The so-called "merit of the three realms" refers to those who practice in the desire, form, and formless realms. Mentioning merit is to eliminate others. The so-called "from the learner" is because it belongs to the continuum. The learner is not the mind of connecting with the intermediate state, but arises from the combination of merit, so it is not the continuation of others. Regarding "from those five," at the time of arising, the merit of the three realms, and the learner who belongs to the continuum, and the knowledge of the non-learner as a continuation of the vajra-like. The so-called "precisely from those five just mentioned," at the time of entering into equipoise, it is the merit of the three realms. As a continuation of the vajra-like is, from the learner. As a continuation of the knowledge of exhaustion is, the knowledge of non-arising. The so-called "from that, the mind is the four," at the time of arising, it is the merit of the three realms, and the non-learner, just as the knowledge of non-arising arises from the knowledge of exhaustion. In the continuation of the non-learner, the learner will never arise, because it is interrupted by the gap of afflictions, and without constantly practicing afflictions, there will be no complete degeneration. The merit that is obtained from birth and that arises from combination will arise, among which what arises from combination is what is obtained through combination, which arises from hearing, thinking, and meditating. Therefore, because it is not equipoise, there is nothing that arises from meditation in the desire realm. In the form realm, there is nothing that arises from thinking, because those other minds are moistened by tranquility.
