Producing fruit and enjoying nearby. These two act on the co-emergent fruit. If asked, how do these two act on it? It is precisely by mutually holding the fruit and being able to produce the fruit. Because if they are separated, they cannot hold the object. The three act on arising. It should be definitely understood that it is 'only on arising.' Because of the abandonment of the ripening fruit and the similar fruit, therefore, these causes of equal share, etc., act on the things that are arising. For the time being, the two, the cause of equal share and the pervasive cause, because there is a similar fruit afterwards, will act on the fruit that is arising. However, from the cause of ripening, there is no ripening fruit afterwards, and there is no action that has ceased, so how can it act on the thing that is arising? Here, the word 'action' refers to ability. Even if the cause is interrupted by many eons, it is only by its power, because it is a common cause, that it can produce fruit even though there is no action of arising and destruction, so the word 'action' is used to express this. The immediately preceding condition acts on arising in order to guide and distinguish the occasion. The objective condition acts on cessation, because the present mind and mental factors hold the present object. The dominant condition is said to be that the action here is to abide in the nature of non-obscuration, because there is no difference between arising and ceasing, so it is said that it acts at all times. If, from the equally possessed and co-emergent causes, the objective condition is understood to be the thing that acts on arising, then what should be said to be their cause and condition? Answer: It is not that a cause produces a cause, nor that a condition produces a condition. Otherwise, one would not desire future causes and conditions. Then, what is the necessity of the causes of the arising of things? It is considering that things will not arise without a cause. 'With the four, mind and mental factors, etc.,' here the word 'is'

It should be definitely held that minds and mental factors are only four. Others say that the word "is" means to indicate the cause, because it is mind and mental factors, so it is caused by the four, and the objective condition does not work on others. In this regard, "the co-existent cause of these" and so on are explained in detail, the five causes are not the co-existent cause of everything, so what is it? It is as appropriate. What is the co-existent cause of what, it has been explained in detail before, such as "afflictions and heterogenous ripening, the rest". The so-called "former" is to eliminate the later born. If so, then it is also a fault that others are interrupted, so it is said that "those not interrupted by others", it should be known to be connected with minds and mental factors. The homogeneous immediate condition of these depends on the difference produced by the five self-categories, it is the former of the born, and these are not interrupted by others. Appropriately, with the five objects and so on, the objective condition of the eye consciousness and so on with the corresponding ones is the five objects such as form and so on in order. The consciousness and the corresponding ones are all dharmas. The dominant condition is only the efficient cause, so it is said that everything except its own nature. The objective condition of the co-existent and corresponding causes should not be said because there is no function in arising. The four conditions arise, and the co-existent cause is the five causes. Without it, there is no arising of these, the function of arising of these, and also in arising, because its object is the cause of it. What is the objective cause of what, then it is always not the objective cause of it. In the two samadhis with three, it should be definitely held that only three. Saying the cause to those who have no objective condition means that they are not the object. The cause of

If we explain the five conditions, then these two (referring to Vipaka and Sarvatraga) are impossible to be the cause with equal function, therefore it is said that the causal conditions of these two are of two types. "Same ground" means that what is the same as the ground of Nirodha-samapatti is the four skandhas of merit of the peak of existence. The ground of Asamjnika-samapatti is the five skandhas of merit of the fourth Dhyana. "Because it arises from the activity of the mind" means that the activity of the mind is effort. Others say: Because this is guided by the power of the mind, and arises depending on the cessation of the mind like the mind, it does not exist simultaneously with the absence of mind like matter. na cānaya vyākulaḥ saṃmukhībhāva prāpta dīva nānaya varivāro jātyādi padādiḥ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, literal meaning) Because it hinders the arising of the mind, it is not the immediately preceding condition. Like this, yogis hate the movement of mind and mental factors, and do not like Asamjnika-samapatti. These, disturb, manifest, like obtaining, not other, retinue, birth etc., first time, enter. If mind and mental factors are the guides, then yogis would not generate desire for it, because the movement of mind and mental factors is both a necessary abandonment and a guide, these two are contradictory. Asamjnika also is the immediately preceding condition of the mind, then why can't it be explained by three conditions? Although it should be explained here, but because it does not arise from the activity of the mind, it cannot be said to be the immediately preceding condition, this should be understood as being included in the later sutras. "Arising from the two" means that because it does not arise only from the two, it is not the object condition, and because mind and mental factors and Asamjnika-samapatti are inconsistent in nature, it is not the immediately preceding condition. For it, the causal condition is Sarvatraga and equal.
