If arising and non-arising change, here it is said that, like form, one's own kind does not have more or fewer dharmas arising. Like this, two substances of feeling will not arise after one substance of feeling, or one will not arise after two feelings. Thus, since mind and mental factors are substances that necessarily arise, here there is no fault of being excessive like form. Also, why ask "only one's own kind"? Because it is not desired that dissimilar immediately preceding conditions. The answer is, it is not like that. To explain in detail, here, in order to eliminate what was said, "For other minds and mental factors, isn't it also the case that there are extremely many and extremely few like form?" it is only said that feelings and other substances are few, which is just a detailed explanation, not to show that only one's own kind is the immediately preceding condition. Therefore, all aggregates are only the immediately preceding condition of all other aggregates. To explain in detail "similar continuums": because these have names established by similar continuums, therefore, these are similar continuums. If only similarity is the immediately preceding condition, then how does the afflicted arise after the non-afflicted? When it is said "after the non-afflicted," it is explained in detail: like this, it is not desired that other kinds without interval are the immediately preceding condition. Then, what is it? It is one's own kind that is offered. For example, there are detailed examples in this regard. "It is not said like that" because it contradicts the scriptures and contradicts reason. What are the immediately preceding dharmas of the mind? To explain in detail, after any mind, there are minds and mental factors that are different from it. Because it would become a fault of not producing uncontaminated mind, it also contradicts reason. There is no uncontaminated dharma that arises before the forbearance of knowing dharma in suffering, because the path has not arisen before. Feeling and so on are the same as other kinds, so they are immediately preceding
