Just because of having obscuration, therefore from that obscuration, (Tibetan: པྲ་ཏི་སིདྡྷེ་ཏེ་ན་སུ་ན་དེ་བཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: प्रतिसिद्धयेतेनसुनादेबं, Sanskrit Romanization: pratī siddhye tena sunā debaṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: For that obscuration...) this is the explanation of the nature of space. In the verses, one should also mainly explain other meanings of the words. There may also be faults for feelings and so on, because for them, they do not have those obscurations, as Āryadeva says. Nature is one's own essence, because there is no nature, there is an opportunity for refutation, from where can it be said that this is the nature of no obscuration? Here, if the words are combined separately, it will become not stating the definition. Therefore, for this separate combination of words, it is said that this is the nature of no obscuration. Here, the difference of some words does not lead to a difference in meaning. What is said in the verses, "One should mainly explain other meanings of the words," this is the same for both. Furthermore, the statement is made in order to understand other meanings from the nature of things. What is said, "There may be faults for feelings and so on," this is also unreasonable, because feelings and so on are not of the nature of no obscuration, but of the nature of experience and so on. Vasubandhu says, whatever is without obscuration is the nature, that is, space. The so-called no obscuration means that it is not pervaded by the elements of earth, water, fire, wind, etc., and their derivatives. Because it does not cling to anything, it exists everywhere. If that is the case, it will not become space, because vases and so on cannot exist in it. Non-obscuration means that it does not hinder the arising of form in its own realm. If it does not hinder, then why is the second form obstructed by cloth? That is not obstructed by space, so what is it? It is obstructed by other forms existing there. Otherwise, even if separated from it, it will be obstructed. What Āryadeva said, "For this also, explain separately, there may be faults for feelings and so on," this is still repeating the previous statement, so this conclusion should be clearly pointed out, it should be understood through the sentence, "Because it is not the nature of form, therefore it is space." Through the sentence, "Where there is the position of form," it can also be proved that it exists from the perspective of action.

Therefore, it is shown. Because form resides in a place, it arises in other places, it cannot be understood, it cannot be found, but others are not, because they do not reside in a place. Therefore, with regard to form itself, it is said that way. Here, it refers to the form of the aggregates, not the form of the places. Therefore, here, space is described from the aspect of its own nature and function. The so-called "cessation through individual analysis" refers to showing the basis. The so-called "separated" refers to explaining its characteristics by distinguishing between birth, samapatti, impermanence itself, and cessation that is not individual analysis. Some say that because they are not the nature of separation. Other cessations are not at fault here, because the cessation through individual analysis has been mentioned. The thought on this is, what is the separation from the defiled dharmas? In order to distinguish from the undefiled dharmas, the defiled is mentioned, because they are not what should be abandoned, fetters, and bonds. The so-called "separation" refers to having what is different from its opposite liberation. If it is said that "having" refers to afflictions and subtle growth? As it is said in the treatise, the subtle growth of which person grows on which thing, that person is called having that subtle growth and that thing. Therefore, the characteristic of the existence of subtle growth is that the thing having subtle growth does not have the opposite defiled dharmas. Then, what is the having of a person or the not having of a person? In the continuum that is the basis for being called a person, the attainment of having or not having manifests, and it is called having or not having. Or, the attainment of the afflicted dharmas is having. Any defiled dharma that is not afflicted, and the attainment of affliction that focuses on it, is also having. As mentioned before, the abandonment that should be abandoned by seeing suffering, and the remainder of the qualities that are universally traveling with having, and the aspects of the previously abandoned and the stains of the object of the remainder, and its attainment, are the nature of dharmas that are different from the defiled dharmas.
