The characteristic called "earth-born" cannot be distinguished without having a special characteristic, so it is called the same basis. The same kind is to hold things equally and establish them separately, that is, mind and mental factors are the co-existent cause that has the same. Here again, it is said that the difference can only be understood by the same basis, not in other forms. Also, in order to determine the questions in mind, what is the difference between the co-existent cause and the co-arising cause? Therefore, it is said that whatever is the co-existent cause is also the co-arising cause. The co-arising cause is that which is not the co-existent cause, that is, the form that follows the mind, and the great elements such as birth. Whatever is the co-existent cause is the co-arising cause. To this, because things have no difference, so ask, what is the meaning again, and so on. Because of the relationship of mutual fruit, it is explained in detail, just as guests rely on each other's strength to travel together, so mind and mental factors also arise because of relying on each other's strength, so they are considered mutual fruits, and also because of the relationship of mutual fruits, they are considered co-arising causes. With five similarities, namely the same form of basis, object, aspect, time, and substance. By the meaning of co-existence, that is, by the meaning of entering the same, just as guests rely on each other's strength to travel together, they equally enjoy all the things they enjoy, such as food, drink, bathing, beds, and cushions, so mind and mental factors also come from the future to the present, even if there is not one the same, because everything does not have the same, so this is the thing of their cause, because it exists. Others say that because there is nothing that does not have, so by the meaning of the same co-existent result, is it distinguished by producing co-arising cause and mutual fruit, or is it distinguished by combining co-arising cause and object?

It is called the cause that possesses equal nature. The cause of equal nature has been explained. That which is called "Accompanied," refers to afflictions. In the word "of all," mentioning afflictions is to distinguish it from the equalizing cause, because the equalizing cause is common to both afflicted and non-afflicted beings, while this (Accompanied cause) belongs only to the afflicted. If that is the case, then other grounds, the future, later-born, and simultaneously born would also become causes of the Accompanied, which would be a fault. Because there is no specifying term like "of all afflicted beings," therefore it is said, "Self-ground Accompanied, prior." This does not specify its own class like the equalizing cause, because this itself is the common cause of afflicted beings, and therefore it is distinguished from the equalizing cause. These will also be explained in detail below. These also include: Suffering, cause, cessation, path, seen to be abandoned, views, and likewise, doubt, without remainder; whatever is simultaneous and unmixed, that ignorance is Accompanied. That is to say, all five kinds of objects will become objects of focus, or become the causal objects of all collections of afflictions, therefore they are the Accompanied. For that very reason, this is indeed the common cause of afflicted dharmas, so it is distinguished from the equalizing cause. By this phrase "also of other classes," it is understood that this is indeed the common cause of afflicted dharmas. Among them, those to be abandoned by seeing the origin, cessation, and path are other homogeneous classes of the Accompanied cause, which are to be abandoned by seeing suffering; similarly, those that are different from what is to be abandoned by seeing the origin are also other classes. Therefore, because it is also the cause of those other classes, the word "also" can be understood to mean that it is also the cause of those of its own class. The Accompanied cause arises earlier because all the unarisen afflicted beings of the five classes also completely hold to the result of the homogeneous cause; therefore, it will be explained in detail in "the homogeneity of those." Therefore, the Blessed One
