It is the path of liberation in time. The unborn is the path of following the Dharma, and it is also the cause of the path of liberation that is attained by sight or not associated with time. Whoever has the faculty transferred is the path gathered by sharp faculties that is manifested. The path of following faith, which was born earlier, is transformed into the nature of the cause of the unborn Dharma because it is grasped by the nature of the fruit, but that which is unborn is due to the lack of complete causes and conditions. Furthermore, others who rely solely on obtaining the unimpeded depend on the unimpeded. All grounds are the co-equal cause as they exist. Relying on obtaining the essence of meditative concentration depends solely on that, except for relying on obtaining the unimpeded. Likewise, it is also the same for relying on obtaining the second meditative concentration and so on. It is not the cause of those who rely on not obtaining the lower ground. Likewise, what exists on the path of the first meditative concentration ground is from what exists relying on the first meditative concentration up to relying on the sphere of nothingness. The second meditative concentration exists relying on its own higher ground, but does not exist relying on the lower ground. Likewise, it should also be stated for the ground of the third meditative concentration. Among them, relying on the first meditative concentration is the co-equal cause of all of its own and the higher ground. That is the one who has attained the first meditative concentration. Likewise, relying on the second meditative concentration, except for relying on the first meditative concentration, is the remaining co-equal cause. That is solely relying on the first and second meditative concentrations, and not others. Likewise, it should be extensively stated for all, as it is said. Others think that the path of cultivation is not the co-equal cause of the path of seeing, but is the co-equal cause of the path of no more learning and the path of cultivation. Thus, the path of cultivation of those with dull faculties, the self-continuum of the future unborn Dharma, is not contradictory to being the co-equal cause of the path of seeing of those with sharp faculties. The Dharma of birth of the path of no more learning is also the co-equal cause of the path of cultivation, which can transform those whose faculties are completely diminished into sharp faculties.

If that is the case, then the paths of the Hearers and so on should also become the cause of each other. If you say that, it is not so, because although there are cases where dull faculties become sharp faculties, in the continuum of the Hearers, the path of the Solitary Buddhas is impossible. If that is the case, then in the continuum of those who follow by faith, since there is the path of those who follow by Dharma, it is not the path of meditation, nor is it the cause of the path of seeing. If you say that, it is called 'arising from application.' Saying 'arising from application' is to prevent what is obtained from birth. Arising from application is what arises from application. Arising from hearing is what arises from hearing the words of the Buddha. Arising from thinking is just arising from thinking itself, not inferior. It is not appropriate for the result to be inferior to the cause. Because there is no equal abiding in the desire realm, there is no arising from meditation. Because there is no arising from thinking. In the form realm, the practices are such that because the continuum is moistened by calm abiding, when the mind begins to operate, they will be close to samadhi. Others say: No, because in the form realm there is arising from thinking, and arising from thinking is also arising from meditation. That is arising from thinking that is completely grasped by skillful means, and because the roots of virtue are completely pacified, it is similar to arising from meditation, and therefore it is called arising from meditation. Their arising from meditation is the cause of arising from thinking. Others say that those who have attained the knowledge of exhaustion want the practices in the desire realm to be the fruit of the meditation of the Arhats, so they are the same as arising from meditation. Their arising from thinking is the cause of arising from meditation in terms of ultimate truth. Arising from thinking alone is not arising from meditation, but arising from meditation is what they impute, and arising from thinking is not, so it is the cause of arising from meditation. Arising from hearing, thinking, and meditation, etc., each has nine kinds with distinctions such as small of small. Small of small is all nine kinds.
