If, for the sake of clearly distinguishing the nature of what has not been understood, it is said "with outflows and without outflows," then, since the sound of dharma does not serve to distinguish and show its nature, there is no fault in the sound of dharma here. Therefore, this is only a brief explanation, not a detailed one. The explanation of conditioned and unconditioned, etc., and the explanation of complete defilement and complete purification, are mixed up. Here, it is not intended to express a mixed-up brief explanation, but something else. If it is said, "Isn't it also showing without mixing up things like conflict and non-conflict?" Although there is such a thought, it is not desirable to say that it is also a synonym for with outflows and without outflows. Therefore, it is said that it is only intended to express this brief explanation, and not something else. Thinking, "What exactly are the things with outflows like?" Therefore, it is said, "Then, what are the dharmas with outflows among them?" "Among them" means with outflows and without outflows. Conditioned things other than the path are called with outflows, and unconditioned things are without outflows. Therefore, the distinction is made by mentioning conditioned things. Although the path is conditioned, it is the only one without outflows, so it is said, "other than the path." What are those? They are the five aggregates of grasping, such as form. Although the truth is not mentioned, the commentary says, "other than the truth of the path," because the truth of the path without outflows is clearly and completely grasped immediately. That is also because complete entry is obtained, so here, right view, etc., are also considered the truth of the path, because they have an undifferentiated function in going to nirvana. The question "Why is it impossible for conditioned things other than the truth of the path to be with outflows?" is asked. Just as with wealth, there are inevitably afflictions, so it must be admitted that there are outflows. If it is said that afflictions exist because of the objects of afflictions, then the cessation and path truths also have afflictions because they have those as objects.

Therefore, it will become tainted. If it is stable, then only the eye and so on are tainted, not form and so on, and even the eye and so on are not all, because not all are the basis of affliction. Or, if it is in accordance, then one part of the mind and mental factors will become untainted, because not all minds and mental factors are in accordance with affliction. If it is said that because it arises together with the outflows, it is tainted, then only the five aggregates of the afflicted mind are tainted, not other minds. Because it has been explained that what increases the outflows is tainted, otherwise it is not. Because in those, it is said: Outflows all increase. Or, how to act as approaching, so it is grasping, called having grasping. Because there is no approaching to act, so by helping, it is called having help. Although it is not intention, subtle increase and outflows are tainted, so it is called having. Because the continuum of afflicted mind named affliction and outflow such as the view of the aggregation of destruction is outflow. Those which are in accordance with what object, through what increase, that is called increase, the teacher Mitra says. Here, depending on the continuum, it will happen in the occasion of fully knowing the increase, but not depending on one's own nature, because there is no difference in the nature of the moment. It will be said like this, when relying on what is in accordance with what is focused on, small afflictions arise from relying on small ones, and large ones arise from relying on medium ones, these dharmas are called tainted, this is the same for cessation and the path, ask a little. How the harmful dharma increases and increases, so the afflictions themselves that focus on it and are in accordance with it increase and increase. By focusing on and being in accordance with, accomplishing the increase of

Therefore, it is said to increase, meaning to obtain a place or to increase subtly. What is the object on which the corresponding one relies to obtain a place? It is obtaining a place, that is, those with outflows. Obtaining a place means abiding in one's own continuum, that is how it is explained. If it is said that this is the same as cessation and the path, then not being destroyed is like seeing abiding. Focusing on views, etc., does not mean obtaining a place there. If it is said that also with Upaghata, etc., it is the same as cessation and the path, then this is not the meaning of abiding. What is it then? Focusing on the object that is grasped by self-view and craving is definitely the meaning of obtaining a place. Therefore, cessation and the path are not grasped by it, nor are they its object, so it should be said that afflictions, etc., do not obtain a place on them. Some say that what is in accordance with afflictions is the meaning of subtle increase. Just as the water on a lotus petal does not adhere to the base and follows the clothes, etc., so it should also be said that afflictions, etc., also increase depending on the dharmas that are clung to. The meaning of subtle increase is the meaning of following and changing, just as oil adheres to clothes. Others say it means mixing. Other teachers say that where afflictions arise is with outflows, because: Where afflictions will increase, / That is said to be with outflows. In order to refute this statement, it is said that even by focusing on the truth of cessation and the path, outflows will arise, etc. The meaning of "འདོད་མོད་ཀྱི་" is the meaning of "ཡིན་མོད་ཀྱི་". Wrong view, doubt, and only these and the corresponding ones, ignorance, and the six subtle increases to be abandoned by seeing cessation and the path, all arise by focusing on the truth of cessation and the path. Cessation and the path will not increase, so there is no fallacy of being with outflows. etena visabhāga dhātu bhūmyā lambanaiḥ kleśair birasabhāgasya dhātor bhāmirbāna pāśri bitvite teṣāṃ ta trā na nuśaya nā dikaṃ (Sanskrit transliteration: etena visabhāga dhātu bhūmyā lambanaiḥ kleśair birasabhāgasya dhātor bhāmirbāna pāśri bitvite teṣāṃ ta trā na nuśaya nā dikaṃ) is what is said. If the sutra says that where afflictions arise is with outflows
