Because of subduing with power, because of initiating diligence, because of relying on vows, there are no other thoughts apart from the roots of virtue. Those roots of virtue of Bodhisattvas, by manifesting them, one attains enlightenment simply without rising from a single seat, so it is said. Some say, "It is only the former." This means that it is attained simultaneously with the exhaustion of knowledge of the Buddha, the Bhagavan. Why? Because until the exhaustion of defilements is attained, the thought of not breaking the lotus posture for a while accomplishes not rising from the path of non-defilement. The teacher Good Assembly says: How does a Bodhisattva, from the beginning without samsara, become deceived by the distinctions of worldly samadhi, and with the thought of exhausting defilements, sit in lotus posture? For what should be abandoned by the vision of the peak of existence, what was not previously uprooted from the root, is uprooted, and reliance is placed on abandoning the remnants of the enemy of afflictions. This is abandoning its antidote, and with common effort, one becomes respectful in order to attain the worldly samadhi that should be attained. Therefore, the Vaibhashikas say, "It is only the former, this is the reason." These two samadhis, when explained extensively, the Samadhi Without Perception is the place of the Fourth Dhyana. The Samadhi of Cessation is the place of the Peak of Existence. The Samadhi Without Perception is entered into solely by the desire for liberation. The Samadhi of Cessation is for the purpose of dwelling. The Samadhi Without Perception is only experienced after arising. The Samadhi of Cessation is experienced after arising, as well as experienced in other instances and uncertain. The Samadhi Without Perception arises in the continuum of ordinary beings. The Samadhi of Cessation arises in the continuum of noble ones. The Samadhi Without Perception arises from application. The Samadhi of Cessation arises from application.

and attain the stage of enlightenment. The phrase "both possess desire and form as support" indicates that the commonality between these two lies in this. Some say that the cause and effect should not be too close, so in the realm of form, the third dhyana enters into non-perception samadhi, but the fourth does not. Others say that since birth is its result, even the fourth dhyana can be entered, except for non-perceptual beings. According to their view, the text called the Dharma Treasury contradicts the Abhidharma. Since it is the existence of form, is there also an existence that is not included in the fivefold conceptual proliferation? There are four possibilities: among them, that which is not the existence of form and is not included in the fivefold conceptual proliferation is called sentient beings who practice in the realm of form. Since there are also gods without perception, therefore the term "gods without perception" is mentioned. Since there are also sentient beings who abide in similar minds, therefore the phrase "and those who abide in dissimilar minds" is mentioned. Among them, dissimilar minds are the minds of transformation that operate in the desire realm, as well as the undefiled and those belonging to the formless realm. Since only the aggregates of one's own place are called existence, others do not consider those to be the existence of form of others. Those are the existence of form, but not the fivefold conceptual proliferation. Cessation samadhi and non-perception samadhi, and even when manifested in a non-perceptual being, are also the existence of form, but not the fivefold conceptual proliferation, because there is no mind and mental factors. Here, saying "gods without perception" and "non-perception samadhi" is contradictory to this. The fivefold conceptual proliferation means the five aggregates. As stated by the Tathagata Kashyapa, the aggregates are named conceptual proliferation. There are also those that are included in the fivefold conceptual proliferation, but are not the existence of form. That is, the existence of sentient beings who operate in the desire realm and abide in the minds of their own place. There are also those that are the existence of form and are included in the fivefold conceptual proliferation,
