One who abides in the first moment should not become an ordinary being. If so, then when the fruit is obtained, because it is abandoned, it should become a non-noble one. Therefore, it is extensively stated that "those are abandoned." The reason for this is explained: because those that have not been attained are completely destroyed. That is, because the forbearance of knowing the Dharma of suffering has been obtained, the forbearance of knowing the Dharma of suffering and those that arise simultaneously with it destroy the state of being an ordinary being that has not been attained. Those unattained noble dharmas will never arise in that continuum. In order to also refute the previously stated fault, it is extensively stated that "then those also," namely the forbearance of knowing the Dharma of suffering and those that arise simultaneously with it. The three lineages are because they are the lineages of the Hearers, Solitary Buddhas, and Perfectly Complete Buddhas. Each of the Hearers and so forth has not attained everything, and what the three lineages have not attained is the same for the Hearers and so forth. Therefore, the question is: of which ones? Therefore, it is said: from what has not been attained by all, it is called an ordinary being. If that is the case, then the same fault will occur, meaning that if everything that has not been attained is the state of being an ordinary being, then the Buddha, being of the lineage of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas and not possessing qualities, would become a non-noble one, which is what was previously stated. The answer is also the same, meaning that from where there is no attainment, then the word "only" must be removed. It is not necessary to remove it, because even single words must be understood definitively. Then, because there is no difference from what was previously stated, the effort becomes meaningless. If it is arranged here from the perspective of completely abandoning the previously stated fault, then the fault of the Hearers and so forth not being noble ones still remains here. If here also that same answer of not having what has not been attained is desired, then it is by the forbearance of knowing the Dharma of suffering and those that arise simultaneously with it, and not by others.

If it is said "it is not," then whatever effort is made becomes meaningless. The noble dharmas that have not arisen will be widely propagated. Regarding which noble dharmas have not arisen in the continuum, and it is said to be an ordinary being, here too, like before, are the Hearers and so on not noble ones, or does the effort become meaningless? Regarding this, the effort is not meaningless, because it has other meanings. Because the continuum is mentioned, ordinary beings exist only in conventional truth, and not other dharmas, to show this meaning it is said so, not to avoid the previous fault. The teacher Sangharakshita says: Each moment of the eye and so on belongs to the continuum of ordinary beings, but it is not the guide. Each moment is not suitable to become a continuum, otherwise the moment will become non-substantial. Therefore, the ordinary being of the moment of the eye and so on is the continuum itself. If asked: Which moment is grasped and established? The answer is: From among them, it cannot be said to be the same or different. Because the moment of the eye and so on is particularly established as an ordinary being, even if it contradicts the sutra, this repeated statement is followed with faith. Entering means entering into the certainty of the truth. The ground of ordinary beings, here it clearly refers to the state of ordinary beings. That is, in what state is the entry of afflictions, karma, and afflictions certain. If so, then merely speaking will become an ordinary being, because the entry of afflictions and so on is certain, so tolerance is obtained. This is what the Sutra School adopts, because wherever it is, the person is like that, so there is no need to investigate. Or, an ordinary being is the ground of ordinary beings, the noble dharma arises through the continuum path, and it is not another dharma. After the noble dharma arises, it is impossible to be taken again by an ordinary being, because this is called the ground of ordinary beings having been transferred. Obtaining it and the transfer of the ground are called "deterioration," deterioration occurs from obtaining it and the transfer of the ground, the transfer of the ground refers to the transfer from arising in the realm and place.
