Therefore, it is said "birth of birth". Here, it should also be stated like birth. Or, if the Dharma obtained is arising, then it should also be said that the attainment of birth is also caused by birth. This reason must be explained, because what does birth do? If birth itself arises by manifesting different Dharmas, then the attainment can be born by that very arising. Then what does birth do? It should also be said "birth of birth". "Having all fetters" appears in a broad sense. "Having all fetters" refers to those who have not abandoned even a single aspect of affliction. Because there is a difference in attainment, and there is no difference in attainment, therefore, for those who have all fetters, the arising of afflictions, small, medium, and large, will not be different, because there is no difference in the attainment that becomes its cause. Others say that if considering other continuums, then there is no difference in attainment. Like this, the attainment of all those who have all fetters is the same. From the attainment of the very small of afflictions being very small, to the attainment of the very large being very large, although there is no difference in the attainment of all, the arising of afflictions, small, medium, and large, of Devadatta and others has many differences. If there is no difference in the cause, then the difference in the result is unreasonable. Saying "having all fetters" is to show that those who are separated from fetters have the opportunity for the arising of afflictions with differences such as small. If it is thought that even if there is no difference in attainment, the arising of afflictions will be different due to other reasons such as habituation, so there is no fault, therefore it is said "if from that it becomes the difference of those". Habituation or other reasons, becoming the nature of small, medium, and large, depends only on the arising of those. What other cause needs to be examined? Only by that completely examined difference of afflictions will afflictions arise small, medium, and large. Attainment has already become another meaning, what needs to be examined? At that time, it is said.
