Pa'o. Why is that? Because each of the categories has differences such as small and large, so there is coarseness and subtlety. Similarly, the remaining knowledge should also be spoken of in this way. Among investigation, analysis, and desire, analysis is coarse. The basis of the first dhyana is subtle. The analysis of the special dhyana is the most subtle. In this regard, it is not admitted that the categories are different. Because regarding "investigation and analysis are not one," etc., it is thought that because they arise through different modes, the moment of mind will not become coarse and subtle. Some say that entering through different modes, the difference between the two is that investigation is through abandonment. Because of abandonment, it is analysis. Others say that investigation arises from the aspect of a coarse object. Analysis arises from the aspect of complete examination. Still others say that investigation arises from the aspect of extreme, and analysis arises from the aspect of complete examination. Some say that investigation arises from the aspect of direct realization, and analysis arises from the aspect of discriminative examination. Others say that investigation is from the aspect of arising, and analysis is from the aspect of definite cognition. If investigation and analysis enter through different modes, then why is it now said that the first dhyana has five branches, namely investigation, analysis, joy, happiness, and concentration? The first dhyana is said to have five branches, but it should be said to have four branches, because neither investigation nor analysis exists. It is thought that because on the ground, the first dhyana is said to have five branches, it is spoken of considering that investigation and analysis may be mixed. From the continuum, the first dhyana has five branches, but not from the moment, because in one moment, investigation and analysis do not arise simultaneously. Acarya Samghabhadra says that investigation and analysis are distinguished between concentrations. What becomes an obstacle to entering the special dhyana is investigation, and it is coarse. What becomes an obstacle to entering the second dhyana is analysis, and it is subtle. "Any one" means both itself and not itself. Having completely examined the difference from the opponent, the mind...

Pride is arrogance. I think I am learned, wealthy, disciplined, and wise. Like this, clinging to one's own dharma, in the mind arises a dharma that completely severs the root of virtue. That is the arising of pride. Completely severing means: for all virtuous deeds, one's own mind individually generates attachment. Or, because of this, it completely severs, so it is called completely severing, that is, the dharma born from the mind, arising from clinging to one's own dharma. Here, the mind that focuses on one's own dharma completely severs and scatters, thereby causing all dharmas and minds to contradict each other. This is what is called completely severing. Others say that the affliction born from the mind that does not scatter in all pure aspects is pride. Still others say that it appears extensively, just as it arises from measure. Mentioning the distinction of universal joy is to distinguish it from mental ease. Mental factors, together with the mind, have been explained individually and separately. For the time being, the mind, from its own nature, aggregates, realms, sources, virtuous, non-virtuous, unspecified, and the classification of realms, has been explained individually and separately. Mental factors have also been explained individually and separately from their own nature, the differences between each other, the determination of number, and the classification of the desire realm and the first dhyana, etc. By its own nature, which and which arise together. It appears extensively in the scriptures. Disciples who are proficient in the explanation of names and meanings, in order to easily apply terms from the scriptures, therefore speak these names. Mind, intellect, and consciousness have the same meaning, but in terms of etymology, there are still some differences. Accumulating virtuous and non-virtuous karma, therefore it is mind, meaning manifest action. Because of knowing, it is intellect, this is in the sense of arrogance, because it is the basis of self-grasping. Because of distinguishing, it is called consciousness, because it can know objects such as form. Some say,
