Therefore, there is no other fault. The venerable Dulzang said: The word "what" grasps the (wisdom) arising from worldly meditation; the word "also" grasps the (wisdom) arising from thinking; the word "and" grasps the (wisdom) arising from hearing; in the scripture "what and," the word "and" here grasps the (wisdom) obtained by birth. Why does the word "what" here grasp the (wisdom) arising from meditation? Because (Tibetan: ནཱ་ཏཱ་སྱཱ་ཨེ་བ་སཱཀྵ་ཏ་ཀཱ་རཎ་བྷཱ་བཱ་ད་བནྟ་དྷི་ཡཱ་ན་སཱ་ཀྵ་ཏ་), (Sanskrit Devanagari: नातास्या एव साक्षतकारणभावादा बन्धधि यान साक्षत), (Sanskrit Romanization: nātāsyā eva sākṣatakāraṇabhāvādā bandhadhi yāna sākṣata), (Literal Chinese meaning: because that is the direct cause), in order to grasp the cause of arising from meditation, effort must be made in the middle. Therefore, whether directly or indirectly, whatever becomes the source of unpolluted wisdom is all grasped by the word "what." It will be said that only some unpolluted wisdom is not Abhidharma. Then what is it? Because it is its collection, those polluted wisdoms are also Abhidharma. Thus, for both, the determined meaning is the same. The determined meaning is the word determined after being definitely separated, which is a synonym for showing the reason for naming. Because it holds its own characteristics, it is Dharma, that is, a synonym for not exceeding its own nature. Among them, the Dharma that has the nature of unpolluted wisdom, and what is related to it, is the Dharma of the ultimate truth, or Nirvana, or the Dharma that tends towards the nature of Dharma, therefore it is Abhidharma. The word "supreme" is a synonym for excellent. The word "meaning" is a synonym for knowable. For example, the meaning of consciousness is all Dharmas, and the word "Dharma" is a synonym for things. The thing of ultimate truth, as said, will show the excellent knowable thing. What is that? Therefore, it is said Nirvana. Or, the word "or" is the meaning of distinction. Nirvana, because it is good and pure, is excellent among all conditioned and unconditioned Dharmas. Because all conditioned Dharmas are completely abandoned, or because it is not accepted, it is excellent. Or, supreme is the wisdom beyond the world. Its meaning is supreme. Suffering and origin and path are also its meaning.

Therefore, it is said "Nirvana." Or, the meaning of the word is to express necessity. The supreme necessity is the ultimate meaning, and there is no other special necessity besides that. What is that? Therefore, it is said "Nirvana." Or, because it is unpolluted virtue, therefore the supreme is the path. In order to combine with it, Nirvana is the ultimate meaning. Cultivating the path also has the meaning of separation, because it is separated from birth, old age, sickness, and death, so it will become Nirvana. The sound of the Dharma of Nirvana is also to eliminate the distinctions of all non-supreme things. The nature of Dharma is that which is indicated by it, so it becomes the nature. Polluted dharmas are the aspects of impermanence, etc., and the aspects of causes, etc.; unpolluted dharmas are the aspects of peace, etc., and the aspects of the path, etc.; everything is interdependent origination. Abhidharma is that which tends towards the present, therefore, through it, one can attain Nirvana, so it tends towards Nirvana; and it can manifest the nature of Dharma, so it tends towards the nature of Dharma. Others say that ultimate truth and conventional truth also tend towards attaining the ultimate Dharma Nirvana, the difference being the difference between near and far. Both focus on the nature of Dharma and tend towards the present. That which is called a treatise clearly elucidates the nature of attaining Nirvana, so it tends towards the present. Thus, the ultimate truth is with definite words, and the conventional truth is the collection of those who have become the ultimate truth, so the word "Dharma Abhidharma" is used. For example, from the collection of flowing things, the ocean arises, and after hearing that sound, one thinks, 'This is that person.' If the collection itself is explained in this way, then similarly, Nirvana also tends towards the nature of Dharma, so it is not Dharma Abhidharma itself. Then what is it? "From becoming the collection itself" this statement is not the answer. Because many combinations of words are unreasonable, wanting to understand the combination of words, it is said, "How is this treatise a treasury of Dharma Abhidharma?" This statement is said, what does it mean?
