Then, is it also said that the body is extremely pliable? Here, it is said that only the mind being capable is considered extremely pliable. Then, isn't the definition of extremely pliable not all-pervasive? If asked this way, it is not that the sutra does not say so. That is because of the phrase "just like the feeling of the body," although it is of the mind, it arises dependent on the physical sense organs. Just like eye consciousness and so on, corresponding to this, it is said to be of the body. Similarly, the extreme pliability of the body should also be understood. Although it is of the mind, because it depends on the physical sense organs, it is called the body corresponding to the five consciousnesses. Moreover, eye consciousness and so on are capable of being virtuous, because extreme pliability is the basis of many virtues. Therefore, there is no difference in essence between the extreme pliability of body and mind, so the definition is pervasive, not non-pervasive. Then, how does it become a limb of enlightenment? If asked this way, because eye consciousness and so on are the object of unequal abiding, and the limbs of enlightenment are without outflows, the extreme pliability corresponding to eye consciousness and so on cannot become a limb of enlightenment. If asked this way, then in that sutra, the special quality of the body being capable of arising, only that which is induced by joy is to be understood as the extreme pliability of the body. Because the sutra says, "When the body is extremely pliable, the mind becomes joyful." Some say that the body is just softness. Then, how is it called a limb of enlightenment? If asked this way, the limbs of enlightenment are the object of the mind and without outflows, and the extreme pliability of the body is not the nature born from the mind, so it cannot become a limb of enlightenment. Because it is in accordance with the limbs of enlightenment, it is said so. The extreme pliability of the body is in accordance with the extreme pliability of the mind, which is the nature of the limbs of enlightenment, so it is also called a limb of enlightenment. How does it accord? The body being capable, and so on, is extensively explained. Like that, although it is not its nature, because it accords, it is established as similar to it. The place of joy

Like earth, although these dharmas are not of its nature, they are said to be the limb of joy's perfect enlightenment because they are in accordance with the limb of joy's perfect enlightenment. The cause of anger is the root of all afflictions, and because it is in accordance with harmful thoughts, it is said to be the obscuration of harmful thoughts. When the path is made into three aggregates, correct thoughts and efforts are said to be the aggregate of wisdom. However, thoughts and efforts are not of the nature of wisdom. So what is it? Thought is of the nature of diligence. Equanimity is called the equality of mind, which is the non-contradictory aspect of sinking and agitation, meaning that the mind does not go beyond proper functioning. Because it is said that "the mind is naturally accomplished." Others say that it is an obstacle to attention. This is the equanimity of formation that is touched. Feeling is the three kinds of experience, and because it is mentioned in that (text), feeling is not equanimity. Because it arises in all virtuous minds, immeasurable equanimity is also not. Now, if so, how is it? Because it is of many grounds (referring to mental factors), and because it is of many virtuous grounds (referring to mental factors), it is also unreasonable for attention and equanimity to arise in the same mind, because they are mutually contradictory. It is also difficult to understand, and it appears extensively. If contact is as it is, then in the same moment of the mind, it does not contradict other mental events, which is difficult to understand, but it is understandable. If effort and non-effort, which are mutually contradictory, arise in one thing without contradicting each other, this is very difficult to understand. Happiness and suffering, which are contradictory, are not seen to arise in one mind. Effort also arises elsewhere, and it appears extensively. Because it is another dharma, effort itself is not non-effort. These two also do not operate on the same object. When effort is made on form, there is no effort on sound and so on, so what contradiction is there in this? So now, etc., effort and non-effort, because the objects are different, all similar possessors do not have the same object.
