Thus. Touch cannot deny being many, because touch is evident there. Touch, which arises from the aggregation of the three, and is different from the eye, form, and consciousness, does not exist. Because the Buddha said that whatever aggregation and combination of these three dharmas is called touch. Why? Because it is said by establishing the result on the cause. By merely showing the cause of touch, the cause of the six sense bases is shown. In the verses, two causes are also mentioned. These are not mutually dependent, because touch and the cause of touch should also be examined. The cause of the eye and form is not the consciousness of the eye, and the cause, the eye and form, are not mutual causes. There, understanding that these are said to be the cause of touch is that desire changes into something else, that is, from the eye, etc., the so-called touch is the nature of the support and the object. Because that is the cause of the eye and form. The nature of the cause separated from one result is consciousness. Therefore, that itself is called touch. The cause of the six sense bases and touch have been discussed. By the cause of things, other things are shown, as it is said in the sutra, craving arises from the cause of feeling. There, other things are merely the eye, etc., and the feeling of touch, etc., are not the eye, etc. If it is thought that it is to determine the different nature, so it is said that other things and touch, it is not from the perspective of action, but like the eye, etc., in order to determine its existence, so it is not widely proclaimed in some scriptures. If it is like the consciousness, etc., which shows action, then these are not the cause of touch, because the action of consciousness is shown, and the result of things and objects, and the arising of the cause of things, etc., are not shown as touch. The so-called dependent origination refers to saying that the cause is for different kinds of dharmas, because it shows what is the cause, so it can be seen. Therefore, if it is not aggregated from here, then there, touch is shown to arise from the mind, so the Blessed One proclaimed it like feeling, etc. The dharma arising from the mind that arises relying on the two, eye and form, is consciousness.

It is called having the cause of realizing feelings and formations that arise together with contact. Like consciousness, it is also shown as food. If someone thinks that contact manifests from the aggregation of three by contemplating food, then is only contact called contact here? This is also unreasonable, because contact belongs to the form of the body, therefore food would become only three. When contact is spoken of as food, it will also become abandoning the three of abandonment, complete knowledge, and feeling. In the peak of existence, because of being free from desire, everything is completely abandoned, therefore it is not what is touched, because of being free from attachment, it is said that feeling arises from the condition of contact, this is the order of dependent origination. By abandoning it alone, it is reasonable to abandon feeling. Because it is not abandoning what is touched, therefore other mental factors that exist together with all mental objects, contact is established. Therefore, it is called not just three multi-grounders. If asked, how to know that there are multi-grounders other than the four? Because it is so declared there, and because it exists in all mind arising, and also because the part of the action can be seen. The Blessed One said that all dharmas are rooted in desire, arising from attention, with contact as the origin, relying on feeling, possessing mindfulness, with concentration as the main, becoming the supreme of wisdom, possessing the essence of liberation, and ultimately reaching Nirvana. As it is said, here, since perception and feeling are not mentioned, they are already established, so they are not mentioned. Grasping the characteristics of the object is perception, there is no grasping of characteristics when entering emptiness, because only attention follows the mind, so it is seen in the sutra that it is strongly established as a multi-grounder. Among them, desire is said to be the action of all mind arising, because it is the seed of all entrances, so it is the desire of manifesting desire, that is, because it relies on the co-arising condition and enters all objects of mind, so desire is not a multi-grounder, so says the teacher Kamalashila. Because it is said "becoming desirous", it is the desire to be known.
