As for "discrimination," it is called "thorough discrimination" because it thoroughly distinguishes. By means of it, one can distinguish and discern the dharmas that are mixed with the characteristics of truth and falsehood, self and general characteristics, and contemplate, for example, "These are the contaminated dharmas." "These are the uncontaminated dharmas." "These are the form dharmas." "These are the formless dharmas," and so on. As for "mindfulness is not forgetting the object," it is a synonym for having the cause of not losing the holding of one's own object. If asked, what is the difference between samādhi and mindfulness? Samādhi is when mental factors are focused on the object, while mindfulness, even if completely lost from the object, can pull the mind back to the object again. As for "attention is the mind's entry," it refers to the mental factor that has the function of causing the mind to enter the object, and is in accordance with the mind, which is attention, which is what worldly people call "paying attention." Because of attention, it is called attention. Because "doing" has many meanings, the mind that is in accordance and accompanied by the mind enters the object, which is its meaning. It enters like turning a hand-held water pot (梵文天城体:bhriṃgāra,梵文罗马拟音:bhriṃgāra,汉语字面意思:hand-held water pot), and causes the mind to enter the object. As for "adhimoksha is desire," it refers to the thought of "if it were like this," which is the meaning of desire. Some say that adhimoksha is definitely holding because it has the function of not abandoning what has been decided. Others say that adhimoksha is a mental factor that has no obstacles to entering the object, like higher morality. As for "samādhi is one-pointedness of mind," the "point" refers to the meaning of object and focus. If there is a dharma that causes the mind and mental factors to focus on the object, that is samādhi, and its synonym is the cause of not being distracted from holding the object in a non-elaborated way. The teacher Glorious Lotus said: Many grounds do not exist, but if examined, there are only three, because the sutra says that feeling, recognition, and intention arise simultaneously. This is because the sutra says so. That is not...
