There is no physical pleasure, and there is no mental pleasure. Therefore, thinking that having mental pleasure, just like having the sense faculty of pleasure such as the eyes, is inevitably associated with the source of pleasure, the question is raised: "Born in the second dhyana (of beings)," this is a widely occurring statement. Regarding the statement "possessing the afflictions of the third dhyana realm," because it is impossible for the lower realm to exist (afflictions), and it is impossible for the good and indeterminate of the third dhyana realm to exist, therefore, for these two reasons, it is said "possessing afflictions." The reason why it is impossible is because the birth of obtaining it is equanimity. How can it be said to be associated with other realms? If it is said that it is because of the afflictions of the lower realm, then, because they are not the same, what can afflictions do? For the noble ones who have completely transcended the formless realms, how can it be said that they possess happiness and mental happiness? This is the basis of the debate. If the afflictions of the upper realm are not associated with (beings) born in the lower realm, then, from abandoning (afflictions) and being born in the desire realm, etc. (lower realms), how can it be fully understood that they have detached themselves from the desires of dhyana, etc. (upper realms)? Because of abandoning and being detached from desire, it must be admitted that they possess the afflictions of the upper realm. Otherwise, because there is no abandonment, they will not be detached from the desire for the upper realm. Not having afflictions, just like having afflictions, is unreasonable. Because it depends on effort, it is not good, because effort is not suitable for it. It is also not obtained by birth, because it is obtained by co-emergence. It is also not indeterminate, because it has completely transcended the extremes. The noble ones born in the formless realm, because there is no cause for abandoning the path, will not manifest happiness and mental happiness, and the basis of transcending them, because belonging to a certain realm, it is not appropriate to abandon that realm. The question is asked, "Having suffering inevitably possesses," therefore, it is said to possess the source of suffering, etc. The remainder, there are those who possess, and there are those who do not possess. Among them, those who possess the source of suffering are the eyes, etc., and those who have not obtained and have lost (beings) do not possess. Similarly, the sense faculties of male and female are also the same.

Discomfort and detachment from desire are not possessed. Faith and so on, and the cutting off of the roots of virtue are not possessed. The faculty of complete knowledge and those who abide in the realm of desire, ordinary beings and those in the fruition, are not possessed. Likewise, the faculty of complete knowledge and the faculty of complete knowledge should also be stated. In the unprohibited states, it should be understood that what has been said is possessed. The female faculty and so on, possessing eight, and being connected to not eating ghosts, should be said in this way, possessing those seven just mentioned. The remaining ones, there are those who possess and those who do not possess. Among them, the eyes and so on, and those that have not been obtained and those that have been lost, are not possessed. Likewise, the male faculty and discomfort and detachment from desire not possessing, and so on, the rest is as before. In the unprohibited states, it should be understood that what has been said is possessed. Whoever possesses the male faculty or the faculty of discomfort, that one, in not eating ghosts, possesses eight faculties, as has been said, seven and the eighth possesses the male faculty or the faculty of discomfort. For what reason, whoever possesses discomfort, that one, in not eating ghosts, possesses the five feelings, body, life, and mind. The rest should be stated as before. Possessing faith and so on, this is explained extensively, whoever possesses the faculty of faith, that one, in not eating ghosts, possesses eight faculties, faith and so on, do not arise without equanimity and so on, likewise, because they do not arise without each other. For that very reason, faith, diligence, mindfulness, concentration, and the faculty of wisdom, these five, and equanimity, life, and mind, it is said that they possess. Likewise, it should also be stated that each one possesses diligence and so on. The remaining ones, there are those who possess and those who do not possess. Of complete knowledge, possessing complete knowledge, the faculty possessor possesses eleven. In this, the word "faculty possessor" should be connected individually to possessing the faculty of complete knowledge and to possessing complete knowledge. Only the faculty possessing complete knowledge, to complete knowledge
