If one speaks harshly, what fault is there? The Vaibhashikas do not accept rebirth, saying that the wind at the time of rebirth is one. Here, "Asa-bhidham" refers to three situations: not understanding, not subduing, and impurity. It should be examined which situation it is related to. Because it is considered a sentient being, and there is no rebirth included in the sphere of phenomena. If it is said that only the basis is rebirth, then it is not that others are produced from it, because it is obtained from the highest samadhi and equipoise, and is said to be the subsequent manifestation, because it can control the nature of the ripening cause of the karma of the fruit of enjoyment. Absolutely speaking, its accomplishment, not being the result of maturation, just like anger, for those who are free from desire, what does not exist is not the result of maturation. Whatever does not exist for those who are free from desire is not the result of its maturation, such as life. As it is said, in this continuum, whatever is slightly matured is not an unpleasant thought. How is it from the manifest desire of being free from desire? It should be shown approximately that what causes maturation in the continuum is not the result of maturation in the continuum of being free from desire. Among them, the eighth, those who possess the life faculty, broadly speaking, the ultimate of the faculties such as the eye, are the eighth life faculty, and the eyes and so on are connected with the eighth life faculty. The good realms are gods and humans. The bad realms are the three bad realms. The faculties of mind are in both, the so-called both, referring to the good realms and the bad realms. The so-called both refers to good and bad. When the faculties of mind are born from maturation and are associated with suffering, at that time, in the good realms or the bad realms, it is the maturation of bad deeds. When it is born from maturation and is associated with happiness, joy, and equanimity, at that time, it is good. The faculties of happiness, joy, and equanimity are the maturation of good, which refers to excluding hells and so on.

Or in a happy realm or a miserable realm. "The unwholesome of the power of suffering" refers to the happy and miserable realms. Eighth, those endowed with the faculty of life, in the happy realm, it is the ripening of wholesome karma, as it is said. If asked, how are the two sexual faculties the ripening of wholesomeness in the happy realm? Therefore, in the happy realm, it is extensively spoken. The happy realm, that is, among humans, due to unwholesome karma, those two faculties are obtained in an unsuitable place, that is a formation not corresponding to the mind. A faculty is a part of the body faculty, therefore it is only wholesome, like the body faculty, in the happy realm it is solely the ripening of wholesomeness. Therefore, it is not a faculty, because it is produced by wholesomeness, as it is said. A faculty is co-arisen with ripening, etc., that which is simultaneous with ripening is co-arisen with ripening, meaning, those which have the fruit of ripening. What was just said, those which are unpleasant ripening, that which is co-arisen with ripening, only that is co-arisen with ripening, because the unspecified and the uncontaminated are not the cause of ripening, and that is other than both. The word "ni" (ནི་) means "only," and the word "zhes" (ཞེས་) means "definite," they are synonyms. "Arranged in order" means, that only is co-arisen with ripening, it should be understood at the end, that is the meaning. If arranged in order, then as said, it should be determined, if not, then that only is co-arisen with ripening. It should be known as definite. If that is the case, then others will become the fault of having no ripening, therefore the twelve should not be said. If that is the case, then from this word, that only is co-arisen with ripening, here it should be understood as the determination as said. The word "kintu" (ཀིནྟུ་), different in order, the unindicated, the uncontaminated, only of ripening, is not ripening.

English

It is to indicate the cause. How is it that only what is fully ripened is said to be the cause of all things? If it is said that only unpleasantness is fully ripened, then due to the different order of words, if asked, what is the cause of this? That is all its manifestations. Therefore, that is not unstated, nor is it without, which appears extensively. Just as a rotten seed, what is unstated has no ripening. What is without outflows is also like a hard seed, not moistened by the damp earth, because it is hard and not moistened, so there is no ripening. Unpleasantness is fully ripened because it is good with outflows and is unwholesome. Because it is not in equipoise, it is said that the absence of outflows itself speaks of the cause of absence. Conditioned phenomena without outflows that are not in equipoise do not exist. The term "ten two kinds" means that only ten are two kinds, and by determining this, the others become one kind. The others become without ripening. What are the others? They are the eleven faculties. Among them, the eye and so on, and the eighth, those with life, are unstated, and the three, such as the all-knowing faculty, are without ripening because they are without outflows. The term "eight virtues" means that they are associated with non-attachment and so on, so it is determined that they are only virtues. Because the others are also virtues. The term "two kinds of unpleasantness" means that unpleasantness is fully ripened, so there are only two kinds. The term "mind and other feelings are three kinds" means that saying "other feelings" refers to feelings other than unpleasantness. These five faculties are wholesome when associated with the root of virtue. They are unwholesome when associated with the unwholesome. From those other ripenings, birth, conduct, crafts, and transformation are unstated. The others should be determined as one kind. If it is not determined, what will happen? Will it become one kind or two kinds?
