Those that are the opposite of the cause are mind and so on, that is, the Vipaka. The rest are not Vipaka, that is, the eight, including faith, and displeasure. Again, how are those established as not being Vipaka? It is established from showing that only one is Vipaka and not Vipaka. In that case, the life faculty is only Vipaka. Nine are only not Vipaka. Twelve are of two kinds. If you ask how to understand this Sutra, if, like the karma of experiencing pleasure and equanimity, the karma of experiencing displeasure, because one does not want it to be the karma of displeasure's Vipaka, it shows that it contradicts the Sutra. Like the touch of experiencing happiness, it is said by establishing it as having simultaneous experience, because it is established as experiencing Vipaka, but not as experiencing Vipaka, so there is no contradiction with the Sutra. This karma will not have displeasure, or it is displeasure, which is a synonym for having simultaneous experience. It will be said that there are five kinds of experience transformation. It will be explained later. Then, like the karma of experiencing pleasure and equanimity, and so on. Like the karma of experiencing displeasure, the karma of experiencing pleasure and equanimity is also the same, it is too much to only establish it as having simultaneous experience and show it. The karma that is simultaneously possessed with pleasure and equanimity is the karma of experiencing pleasure and equanimity. In that case, pleasure and equanimity will also be like displeasure, and will not be Vipaka, because it is simultaneously possessed with the karma of virtue and non-virtue. Just like liking, it depends on that, because there is no contradiction in either way. The karma of experiencing pleasure and equanimity refers to pleasure and equanimity having Vipaka, and pleasure and equanimity and simultaneously possessing, there is no contradiction in either way. Therefore, just like liking, it depends on that. Because there is no opportunity, so you should know that it is like that.

is impossible. If, like unpleasant feelings, pleasant feelings and equanimity do not have the opportunity to ripen, then therefore, pleasant feelings and equanimity, like unpleasant feelings, are said to experience an equal state. It should be understood that this does not mean that they will experience ripening. Alternatively, this is another meaning: because there is no opportunity, it should be understood that from experiencing unpleasant feelings, this is said to experience an equal state. For unpleasant feelings, the possibility of ripening like pleasant feelings and equanimity does not exist. Because the karma of experiencing unpleasant feelings, like the karma of experiencing pleasant feelings and equanimity, is said to experience ripening. Because one cannot be convinced by mere words, the reason for preventing the opportunity for ripening is written, such as "What reason is there for this?" and so on. The reason is stated as follows: "Unpleasant feelings are" and so on appear extensively. Unpleasant feelings are produced and cease by various discriminations such as unpleasant thoughts, but ripening is not like that. The ripening of the eyes and so on does not depend on discrimination, but enters and exits by the power of the pulling of karma. In this way, saying "Pleasant feelings are also the same as this" shows a mistake, because pleasant feelings are indeed produced and cease by discriminations such as pleasant thoughts. However, since one wants ripening, this is not reasonable. To prove that unpleasant feelings themselves are not ripening, another method with reason and ability is stated as follows: "Then, if it is unpleasant feelings" and so on appear extensively. Therefore, the meaning is: because the cause of uninterrupted karma causes unpleasant feelings to arise, it will ripen. In this way, it will be experienced in this life, not experienced after birth, nor experiencing hell. Pleasant feelings

Furthermore, like the phrase "similar to that," if the karma experienced from birth is virtuous and experienced in the visible dharma, it is not permissible. Therefore, one should not accept pleasure as a result of maturation while being displeased. Just as with pleasure, one should not accept displeasure as the result of karma for the same reason. Thus, such erroneous statements are made. Moreover, stating another cause for displeasure not being a result of maturation, is extensively explained as "for those who are free from attachment." For those free from attachment, displeasure does not follow like the faculty of suffering, because the sutra prohibits it, stating that even when the Buddha passes into nirvana, sorrow and the like do not arise for me. Maturation is not like that, meaning that the maturation of the eyes and so on does not revert for those free from attachment. Since there is no need, it is also not a manifestation of virtue, because it is beneficial like pleasure. The extensive explanation of their pleasure and so on means that the pleasure of those free from attachment is included in the absorption of virtue, and although there is a cause of thought, it is not a maturation of virtue. Therefore, one should explain what kind of maturation is the unindicated pleasure of those, meaning that its universal arising is not fixed. The extensive explanation of "whatever it may be" means that pleasure has the possibility of universal arising, so there is an opportunity for maturation. That is, when there is occasionally no external cause, it arises without discrimination, and such is the unindicated maturation. The phrase "displeasure does not arise universally at all times" arises, meaning that if it is virtuous and unindicated, from what virtue is it? It is from the sutra. The sutra says, "Relying on what does one individually and correctly experience the maturation of pleasure?" Thus, for the side of darkness, displeasure, (Tibetan: བ་ཙ་ན་མི་ཏྱ་པ་བི་དྡྷཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: वचनमित्यपविद्धं, Sanskrit Romanization: vacanamityapaviddhaṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: speech discarded), that displeasure arises from the karma of maturation, caused by the distinction of discrimination. Like at the time of emanation, what is created by others also transforms into maturation.
