Or, benefiting oneself is to abandon all ignorance, but that is not due to wishful thinking or the power of the noble ones' generosity. What is it then? It is because of obtaining the antidote. Because of obtaining the antidote, accomplishing benefit for oneself is the perfection of the antidote that does not know all objects and all aspects. Or, to strive for the benefit of oneself is to accomplish benefit for oneself, from generating the mind of enlightenment onwards, up to the vajra-like samadhi, all of the bodhisattva's path itself. The accomplishment of its perfect result is the perfection of wisdom and the perfection of abandonment just mentioned. Therefore, having praised perfectly with the perfection of accomplishing benefit for oneself, this is the third of the reasons. To express excellent qualities is praise, and praise is the reason or cause of perfect qualities. Or, benefiting oneself is the unsurpassed wisdom and abandonment, and accomplishing it is the action of realizing it and obtaining it, which causes the attainment of the unsurpassed wisdom and abandonment that are perfect and extreme. If all the actions and results of the bodhisattvas are solely for the sake of others, as it is said: "All your merit and the fruits of merit, are for the sake of others, not for oneself." Isn't that what is said? Therefore, how can it be said to accomplish benefit for oneself? Because the benefits and results of the bodhisattvas' striving for the benefit of others are the very results of benefiting oneself, it is said to be the accomplishment of benefiting oneself, and there is no fault in this. As it is said: "Here, wisdom and qualities are mainly held by others, the inexhaustible merit and fruits of the Blessed One's activities for beings, those that are closely held have become others, the Blessed One's dedication to beings is not meaningless." Therefore, it depends on how it is established. Also, in "the Blessed One himself," the word "also" indicates that praise of the Blessed One himself is expressed from another aspect. Praising with the perfection of accomplishing benefit for others means that striving for the benefit of others is benefiting others. That is the mind.

It enables all sentient beings to abide in the state of Nirvana, and it rescues beings from the mud of samsara. Thus it is said. Other beneficial activities are those that accomplish the benefit of others. Its perfection is that it accomplishes the supreme meaning for sentient beings. Samsara is like a mud puddle because it is a place where beings are universally attached and difficult to overcome. What is said here is that by these or here, beings revolve in samsara, which is the five aggregates of close grasping, the five kinds of beings. Because of universal attachment, it is universally attached, or because of this attachment, it is universally attached, that is, because of the essence of the basis of existence of self and what belongs to self, it is a place where beings are universally attached. Because it is a place of seeing self and what belongs to self, it is difficult to overcome. Because of the influence of the view of the perishable aggregate, fearing annihilation, it is impossible to overcome it. Because it is a place of universal attachment and difficult to overcome, samsara is like a mud puddle, similar to a mud puddle. Alternatively, samsara has been running continuously from beginningless and endless time, without stopping for even a moment. From those of the same kind and equal fortune, from one who was born earlier, without interruption, another body is obtained, which is the definition of samsara. Samsara is similar to mud in nature, so it is like mud and is called mud. For example, because of the moisture of muddy water, it becomes a place where beings are universally attached, and it is the nature of drowning. Just as old cows and others who are drowning there find it difficult to overcome their own movements, so too, samsara is a place where beings are universally attached because of the moisture of craving for existence, and it is difficult to overcome because of the universal enjoyment of craving for self. Alternatively, because of the view of the perishable aggregate and the close grasping of self and what belongs to self, beings are immersed in it, so it is a place of universal attachment, and it is difficult to overcome because of the universal enjoyment of craving for self, because it is inseparable from this thought. Alternatively, because of relying on craving, it is a place of universal attachment, and therefore birth does not arise from it. The arrogance of thinking "I am" is difficult to overcome, because it is an obstacle equal to indicating the definite liberation from samsara. Alternatively, because of the view of the perishable aggregate, fearing its annihilation, it is the view of the perishable aggregate.
