Having parts and whole, and becoming many, this has been said before. Because there is no difference, just as the remaining atoms of the Lord, not even one atom can serve as its support. If asked whether these are in contact with the object, etc., then, where does this doubt come from? Because both are seen to be stated. The Blessed One has said, "The eye contacts forms that are pleasing and unpleasing." If not in contact, contact is not reasonable. Again, it is widely stated that he sees beings with the divine eye. If it is said which are far and which are near, if it is indeed in contact with the object, then the distinction of near and far is impossible. If it is assumed to be in contact with the object, then all those who hold the object are in contact. If it is in contact without interval, therefore, the eye, consciousness, and ear are not in contact with the object. For example, through the statement "seeing things from afar," it can be known that it is not in contact with the object. Through the statement "not seeing the eye medicine in the eye," it can be negated that it is in contact with the object. If so, it will surely be determined that it is only not in contact with the object. Because both contact and non-contact with the object are mentioned, therefore contact with the object itself will be negated. Those who think that relying on arising and existing in the object, that is, being in contact with the object, their idea is only a wish, because they simultaneously recognize near and far. This Dharma is not even seen by those who have blackness and other going. If it is said that the eye is light, therefore like a lamp, it is not contradictory to illuminate near and far together, then, the one who wants to see seeks appearance in the darkness, therefore the light itself is not established. If it is said that the light of the eye is weak, therefore it seeks external appearance, then, because the weak light is overwhelmed by the strong light, it will not become an object. The example and the exemplified are also not the same, because they clearly show contact without interval. The lamp touches and burns branches and ghee, etc., and makes them appear, while the eye cannot touch eye medicine, etc.

It is not the case that it holds things that are extremely close. If a lamp illuminates everything without interval, then the eye holds the mountain and trees etc. in front, therefore it is not the case that the eye is like a lamp. If it is said that since the eye is a ray of light, it is not contradictory to illuminate near and far things at once like a lamp, then since it holds what is not touched by the object even when obstructed by glass etc., and since doubt arises, the eye does not contact the object. If it were in contact, then when looking closely, it would not be reasonable to doubt whether the tall thing is a person or not, and to doubt about its differences. Since it holds what is clear and in contact, what is the reason for thinking that there is no difference? Since it is impossible to contact kalpas by thousands of kotis, it is not reasonable to say that the eye contacts the moon as soon as it is opened. Therefore, the eye is indeed not in contact with the object. Similarly, hearing a sound from afar should be understood as the ear not being in contact with the object. If it were indeed in contact with the object, then like the nose etc., it would only understand the object that is in contact, and not what is far away. How is it understood that a sound is heard from afar? Because it is determined through the distinction of directions etc. For example, the sound of the south, the sound of the north, what is near, what is far, it is determined in that way. That is not possible for contact, like smell etc. If you say, don't you see the appearance described by directions etc.? The answer is, there is seeing. That is because after being completely diffused, it is inferred from the most obvious smell of the direction. There is no such similarity with the eyes and ears etc. that do not completely diffuse. Because it holds clear and unclear sounds from near and far, the near is indeed holding what is in contact. Because it has become a completely uncommon cause, there is no doubt. For the far, it will completely become doubt, because there is no cause for difference. If it is said that contact with the object itself is the only one, then it will be explained in detail. The "here" mentioned here refers to the realm of humans. If the eye is different from the ears etc. because it does not contact the object, then the meditators
