What is said is that it is unreasonable to say that it is severance and without obscuration because of having obstacles, because there are obstacles to the object, and because of having obstacles to that. What is said to be severance and without obscuration is because there is no obscuration of obstacles. Even so, the severance mentioned is the meaning of separation, and eye consciousness is also called having obstacles because of having obstacles to the object. The eye is because of having obstacles, so it cannot be said to be severance and obscuration. What is said is, what are the eye and the object, and the consciousness that depends on it also exists simultaneously with it. Therefore, how can the thing with the object not appear, thereby preventing the eye from entering other objects? Similarly, this should also be said for its consciousness, meaning that for that consciousness, the dependent object of entry is because of entering one object, this sentence is also irrelevant. So, what is severance here? When, because the dependent object is the same, consciousness will not enter other form that has not been severed, this is severance. Therefore, obscuration here clearly refers to obstacles, and it should be known that it is an obstacle to the object. Cherries, thorns, crystals, and water, etc., are spoken of extensively. If the eye, because of having obstacles, like the senses of the body, does not enter its own object, such as places severed by walls, etc., then, for places severed by cherries and thorns, etc., it should also not enter in the same way. Cherries, etc., sever in the middle, are seen but not touched. Therefore, having obstacles itself is not the cause. So what is it? If there is no obstacle to appearance, this sentence will appear, because the eye acts together with appearance. For things like thorns that have no obstacle to appearance, even if it obscures the form, eye consciousness will arise, so it can also see the severed form. If there is an obstacle such as a wall, then for the severed form, eye consciousness will not arise, because there is no cause to act together. Therefore, because it does not arise, things obscured by walls, etc., are not seen. If the eye only
