the nature of which would turn to ashes, so it is said, it is enough to arise from a blind person. This is only one aspect, because of the fear of numerous scriptures, a detailed analysis has not been done. The main text should be started, why? Because there is an obstruction in between, form cannot be seen. Regarding this statement, the word 'lo' means that this reason cannot prevent consciousness from seeing, in order to show that it is not desired. If consciousness can see, then because there is no obstruction to walls etc., just like offerings, the form obstructed by the wall can also be seen. Obstruction is also not seeing, therefore, what can make obstruction not be seen? Because it is not the nature of seeing, there is no other reason. Thus, because the obstructed form cannot be seen, consciousness is not the nature of seeing, and because it is not the nature of seeing, obstruction is also not seen. Although the eye is the nature of seeing, it is obstructed by the obstruction in between, so the form of the obstruction in between cannot be seen, and there is no obstruction so the offering in between can be seen, there is no contradiction. Regarding obscuration, the consciousness of the eye does not arise, this statement is said a lot, it is not because it is not the nature of seeing that obscuration cannot be seen. Then what is it? Because it has not arisen, the reason for the nature of not seeing indicates not seeing. According to that reasoning, like the eye, even if it has obstruction, it will not be able to focus on the object because it obscures the ability to approach the object, if it is said to be so, this is similar. If it is said that it does not arise, this statement is said a lot, consciousness only acts on the object, not the eye, the eye only acts on consciousness, and consciousness is also without obstruction. Therefore, if both the object and the eye are present, why does consciousness not arise? According to whose view, the eye sees and consciousness knows, according to that view, consciousness and the dependent eye enter the same object together, therefore the form seen by the eye, consciousness can know. Therefore, entering the object together with the dependent, the eye also has obstruction, therefore it cannot enter the obstructed form, and cannot see, because

Therefore, it is possible for consciousness not to arise. What is said is that arising is its seeing, and seeing is arising, and it is said for that reason. If arising does not exist, how can there be seeing? How does it arise? Unseen or how can there be seeing? What is the seeing other than the arising of the Vaibhashikas? Because it is a kind of agent, establishing seeing as reliance, the arising of others to the eye together with reliance is not allowed. Even if it is not unconditioned, it will become that fault, so there is no cause and effect relationship. From becoming a fault, can the agent or conditioned itself give rise to others? Becoming a fault or saying that it is the same there is not appropriate. If this fault does not become like this, then arising and not arising are different. If that is the case, then arising is seeing and seeing is arising, and that is also a fault for the Vaibhashika school. Also, the sound of arising only becomes the nature, and the sound of seeing speaks of the difference of the nature. Because the sound and meaning are different, why not grasp that non-arising is seeing and non-seeing is arising? What is said is, when obstructed by plums and thorns, how can the arising of eye consciousness be said to be arising for that unobstructed arising? To this, others say, if consciousness can see, then it will also see the form that is interrupted in the middle, because it does not look, so the nature of seeing is eye consciousness. Here it is said that because there is no arising, unseen is not the nature of seeing, that is how it is said. This itself is an irrelevant answer, and arising is also said for interruption. The eye also appears widely like the body's root. Like the body's root, it is because it has obstacles and is interrupted by interruption, and because it does not encounter the object, it cannot recognize it. If it is unreasonable to say this, then the eye's root is like consciousness, because it is an unencountered object, interruption cannot do anything at all, so why can't it see the interrupted form? Master Sanghabhadra said,
