Moreover, it is said that eye consciousness arises in dependence on the eye and form. It is not said that the eye arises in dependence on consciousness and form. Therefore, to say that consciousness is the cause of the eye is merely one's own conceptualization. If it is asserted that the eye, which has a basis, sees because of the distinction arising from the growth of the cause of consciousness, then the same eye should also see. Because the cause with a basis has been accumulated, it is seen as extremely distinguished, which would become a distinction. If it is asserted that the distinction of nature arises from consciousness with a basis and that which is similar to it, then this also contradicts the very reasoning of the realms and sources, so how can it be determined? It is not established that seeing depends on eye consciousness, as stated in the scriptures and so forth, because from the distinction of consciousness, seeing and not seeing are not permissible for those of the same type of eye consciousness. If it is said that this distinction arises from the distinction of the basis, then the distinction of the basis does not change the dharma into something else. If this is not the case, even though there is no distinction in the type of consciousness, why is this distinction of Sāgata (Sanskrit) a different object and basis from the bases and objects of ear consciousness and so forth? Since this is the case, why not assert that other consciousnesses can also see this due to the distinction? Just as there is no distinction in the type of eye, but there is seeing and not seeing, why not assert that consciousness is also like this? If it is said that there is a distinction arising from the growth of the eye, then there is no distinction arising from growth, because the change of nature is the same. Is the seeing here the eye itself, or something else that is not the eye? If it is the eye itself, then the distinction of having a basis and being the same is unreasonable, because both are the eye itself, so what distinction does seeing make? If it is said that the eye is distinguished by seeing, and seeing is also distinguished by the eye, then this is explaining the order of precedence. If the eye is seeing, then is its seeing looking at form? This also does not understand the distinction of the eye. Other eyes, like consciousness, are not other.

Even if intrinsic nature does not exist, one should still slightly follow and observe. And whatever is different from the nature of things, which is not different from things, need not be abandoned. If it does not exist, then what is the point of proving it with mere words? If the three (seer, seen, and seeing) are admitted to have different intrinsic natures, then only the function of non-intrinsic nature will be lost, and other intrinsic natures will disappear. Mutually different intrinsic natures cannot be seen as the same. If the intrinsic nature of things is itself non-intrinsic nature, and it is not due to non-existence that it becomes non-intrinsic nature, then for non-intrinsic nature, it is impossible to slightly follow existence. Therefore, it is unreasonable to see with eyes different from consciousness. Then wisdom will also become like consciousness. If others think that wisdom has the characteristic of being able to distinguish, then why can't consciousness grasp the characteristics of the form that is seen in the present? What is said is, if it is not seen by the eye, it will not be said to "appear because it does not exist." This is not the case, because for what is seen by the eye, if there is no uncommon cause, then it will not be seen because of this, so it is called a blind person. If eye consciousness can see, then a blind person will also become a non-blind person. Although for a blind person, eye consciousness does not arise, but the substance of past and future eye consciousness exists, or because they have past and future eye consciousness, so a blind person is not a blind person. If someone thinks like this, then there is no fault in this. What is said is, expressing it with the saying "the eye itself sees there," this is not a harm, because it is establishing the result on the cause. What is said is, if it is said to be "contrary to the world," then this is not contrary to the world, because it is precisely because of the uncommon cause of eye consciousness that the world thinks that the eye can see. What is said is, if only consciousness can see, then it will become the nature of one and two, then wisdom will also face the same situation, because it has been admitted that seeing and wisdom are not different. Then, why admit the difference here? Therefore, one and two
