Because each one has great benefits, and because of generating faith, it is considered good to focus on the image of the Tathagata and others. Regarding its benefits, it is said in the Sutra of the Mudra Generating Faith by the Power of the Holy: If all the fine dust of the three thousand great thousand world realms were to become Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, and someone desiring merit were to offer and venerate them with robes, bedding, medicine for sickness, and so on, for as many kalpas as there are sands in the Ganges River, it would be better if someone were to see a painted image of the perfectly complete Buddha, that person would have even greater merit, what need is there to mention scattering flowers and so on? It is also said in the Holy Samadhi Supreme King Sutra: If someone were to fill the entire Jambudvipa with temples made of the seven precious jewels, and fill them with images of the Tathagata made of sandalwood essence, and offer them with divine flowers and incense and so on like one day without doing other things for as many kalpas as there are sands in the Ganges River, it would be better if someone were to gather the image of the perfectly complete Buddha in their mind for a moment and contemplate it, that person would generate countless merits. It is also said in the Holy King of Samadhi Sutra: However much one does not contemplate, the conceptual thought abiding therein, thus and thus, the mind will incline towards it. Likewise, remember the form of the Victorious One, and the immeasurable wisdom of the Sage, if one constantly becomes accustomed to remembering, then the Teacher will always be present before one. It is also said in the same Sutra: When one is sick and uncomfortable, and feels the suffering of approaching death, the feeling of suffering will not rob one. And so on. In the Holy Katyayana Sutra, the Holy Katyayana asked a maidservant if she was selling poverty, and the maidservant said: What poverty is there to buy? The Holy Katyayana said: There is a way to sell poverty, remember the form of the Tathagata. Then, that maidservant sat on the grass-covered ground at dawn that night,

Thinking of the body of the Tathagata, Even if one's life ends at that very moment, it is said that one will be born in the Trayastrimsa heaven, and so on. Furthermore, in the Samadhi where the Tathagata is presently abiding, it is said that one will have the benefit of seeing the Tathagata directly at some point and hearing the sound of the Dharma spoken by him. In the "Arya Ksetrapala Pariprccha Sutra," it is also said to remember the Buddha. Thus, in those Sutras, it is said that meditating on the body of the Tathagata has great benefits. If one asks why it is necessary to generate faith and respect in the object of focus, it is said that the first of the eight aspects of abandoning the five faults is the faith of believing in the present. Faith arises like a guiding mother, Like a hand, it is the root of accumulating virtue. As it is said, the object of generating faith is very important. Therefore, because it has great benefits and is an object of generating faith, in the image of the Tathagata's body, in any image that one likes, one should not generate thoughts of wood, stone, or gravel, but think that this is the excellent result of accumulating all the accumulations of merit and wisdom, that is, this body with wisdom. One should think in this way and carefully observe the differences in shape, such as the sitting posture, the upper and lower body, the head and hands, the feet and back cushion, the seat and throne, the Dharma implements and ornaments, how they are situated, and the differences in color, such as yellow or red, whether the colors are the same or not. For two or three days, one should generate and observe from time to time, prostrate, and even the smallest differences should be memorized in the mind. In this way, one should know the characteristics of the object of focus. What is the preliminary? First, all tasks must be completely accomplished. After performing preliminary actions such as prostrations in a pleasant place, one should sit on a comfortable cushion, relax the body and straighten it, sit in a lotus position slowly, and abide with a sense of detachment from the body. Then, one should think like this: all beings are burned and consumed by the blazing fire of birth, old age, sickness, and death, held, rotating, and suffering greatly. Thus it is said.
