said. Again, in the same sutra, the king reported: Manjushri, all my obscurations have been cleared. What is the reason for that? Because the nature of the mind is originally pure, it cannot be defiled by desire, hatred, or ignorance. Said: Great King, just like this, for example, there may appear specks of dust, dust, smoke, darkness, thick fog, or clouds in the sky, but the sky is not defiled by these. Great King, similarly, although there may arise the latent tendencies of the view of self and what belongs to self, as well as desire, hatred, and ignorance, the Dharma nature of the mind is not defiled. Great King, you should not regret this. Great King, the mind has not moved from the initial limit. Great King, the mind will not move to the final limit either. Great King, the mind does not abide even now. Therefore, the wise realize that all dharmas are unmoving, unchanging, and un abiding. Having understood this way, they also do not become attached to views. Great King, non-attachment is purity, so it was said. Thus, through reason and scripture, certainty greatly increases during certain days and nights, and one does not practice at night, but during the day one strives to practice intensely and briefly. Like this, merely adjusting the body, and then, like the mind, contemplating that all dharmas are free from all elaborations, gently abide, and very diligently do not cling to this, first only practice the object of abiding. On the first day, two sessions in the morning and two sessions in the afternoon. On the second day, three sessions in the morning and three sessions in the afternoon. On the third day, four sessions in the morning and four sessions in the afternoon. On the fourth day, five sessions in the morning and five sessions in the afternoon. From then on, do not practice more than ten sessions until the increase has occurred. Having practiced like this, the first mind of increase that arises, as well as the second, third, and fourth. At that time, practice two sessions during the day and one session at dusk, for a total of three sessions. Among them, the first is extremely peaceful because the coarse thoughts have ceased, and when previously observing the breath, even the slight movement is gone, and even if the effort is relaxed, because of the previous strength, the duration is like normal walking, without sinking to about five arrow-lengths, previously
