Generate the aspiration to incline towards the formless dharmas, and may you become perfectly endowed with excellent limbs. When washing the feet, the Bodhisattva generates the aspiration that all sentient beings may reach the ultimate state of stainlessness and cross over to the other shore with the feet of miraculous power. When experiencing the body, the Bodhisattva generates the aspiration that all sentient beings may be free from turbidity in their thoughts and that the activities of the body may be exceedingly blissful. When waking up, the Bodhisattva generates the aspiration that all sentient beings may obtain great power in all ten directions and become Buddhas who are fully awakened in the omniscient wisdom. Thus it is said. For these, one should learn as much as possible about the body's energy and how to harmonize it. While the body is comfortable, one should avoid evil thoughts, evil speech, and evil deeds, and also abandon ordinary behaviors that waste time. The explanation of the practice of rising has been completed. So, what is the limit of controlling the body? After the wisdom of thought has arisen, if there is a slight sign of bodily discomfort, whether it lasts for one day or one night, or for two days, one should do nothing else except to remember from time to time how the wisdom of thought arose. One should neither meditate nor do anything else, but allow the body to be nourished. Then, when the body has been nourished, or even if there is no bodily discomfort, after the wisdom of thought, those who do not wish to abide in meditative equipoise should, in this way, not meditate at all at night, but sleep as much as possible, so that the body is fully nourished and rested. On the first day, meditate for one session in the morning and one session in the afternoon, at a place that is about half an arrow-shot away, walking at a normal pace. Then, add one session each morning and one session each afternoon, so that on the fifth day there are ten sessions. If no minor illness occurs during this time, one should increase in this way; if an illness occurs, one should not increase until it has subsided. Even if there is no illness, from then on, one should not meditate for more than ten sessions a day until one has attained mental stability. If the body is inferior, or even if it is middling, but the mind is difficult to stabilize, then after about ten days, if one finds that the body's energy is insufficient, or even if the body is superior, but the mind stabilizes slowly, then after about twenty days, one will be able to...

If there is slight discomfort or illness, it should be alleviated with food, drink, massage, etc., that are in accordance with the Dharma. Be patient and do not stop meditating. If you are usually tired during meditation or if your mind is not clear, then from the next day onwards, reduce the duration of one or two meditation sessions during the day and continue to meditate. If your condition improves, continue to meditate as before. By doing so, you will quickly understand whether your condition is good, medium, or bad, and then meditate each day according to how much energy you have lost. These are the means of controlling your physical condition until you attain the state of a Bodhisattva. So, what is the sequence of the arising of mind through meditation? In short, there are three: arising very quickly with the wisdom of reflective meditation, arising quickly, and arising after a long time. Among these, arising very quickly has two situations: some people can realize the true nature of all phenomena at the same time as the wisdom of reflective meditation arises; others can immediately generate a connecting wisdom, remembering how to abide in this state without conflict, and then immediately strive to abide in a state of non-abiding, thereby attaining a state of co-emergence with wisdom. In this state, they do not even feel the existence of the body, like ice melting, or like clear water in a vessel before dawn, very subtle, and stable as long as it is not shaken. If this happens, walk about three arrow-lengths away at a normal pace, then stop this state of bliss and get up. This meditation session does not need to be adjusted. Afterwards, if you maintain physical seclusion for a long time and are able to prevent the mind from being disturbed, then even without adjustment, you can abide in that state as before. If the conditions are not met, or if your ability is insufficient and your mind wanders elsewhere, adjust as described earlier. Some people, even if they abide as before, cannot immediately attain a co-emergent and immovable state, nor do they feel the existence of the body, but merely lack the conceptual thoughts associated with names and objects. If this happens, walk about one arrow-length away at a normal pace, then get up. From that meditation session onwards, do not meditate for longer. In the intervals of getting up, you should often read and remember the Buddhist scriptures and treatises that explain the ultimate truth. After that, the arising of the existence of the body
