If squeezing and so on, it is established as wrong livelihood because it harms the lives of sentient beings. If squeezing after examination, it is not wrong livelihood. This is the meaning (of the scripture). This can be divided into two types: wrong livelihood belonging to the number of sentient beings, and wrong livelihood arising from not belonging to the number of sentient beings. Among them, selling sentient beings, selling meat, and selling grains without examination are wrong livelihoods arising from belonging to the number of sentient beings. Selling poison, selling weapons, and selling alcohol are wrong livelihoods arising from not belonging to the number of sentient beings. In order to show right effort, it is said, "What is right effort?" and so on. The so-called speaking frankly refers to showing respect from the perspective of a householder, that is, when meeting parents and elders, bowing with the body, greeting with words, and speaking kindly. The so-called prostration refers to the perspective of a renunciate, when meeting Khenpos and Acharyas, bending the limbs and making the act of prostration. The so-called hatred refers to showing respect from the perspective of any other comer such as a lama, that is, for those virtuous lamas and others who come respectfully, also standing up from the seat to greet them, inviting them to sit on the seat. The so-called making the gesture of joining palms refers to showing respect to the virtuous people who are sitting in the same place, that is, when meeting people who live in the same place and whose behavior conforms to pure conduct, also bending the body and making the gesture of joining palms. This is right effort. In short, abandoning unfavorable factors and striving to cultivate antidotes is right effort. In order to show right mindfulness, it is said, "What is right mindfulness? Here, monks" and so on. Among them, there are three types of sentient beings: those of the nature of desire, those of the nature of hatred, and those of the nature of ignorance. The characteristics of these three types should be observed: the characteristic of those of the nature of desire is that they are naturally frivolous and scattered, like singing and dancing, and are always distracted.

My nature is gentle, jealous, abiding in much shame, difficult to abandon desire, which is a minor transgression. The characteristic of the nature of hatred is to talk and speak about anything, to enjoy fighting, to have an angry face, to be difficult to please, to have a rough and sharp mind, to enjoy evil, to be cruel to sentient beings and to be fond of harming them, to be difficult to abandon afflictions, which is a major transgression. The characteristic of the nature of ignorance is to be double-minded, to have no interest in what should be done, to have much sleep and drowsiness, not to be of the nature of contemplation and firmness, to have a mind as foolish as kapok and silk, to be lazy, to not trust anyone, and that person himself is not trustworthy, to generate hatred towards virtuous deeds, to be ungrateful, and to be difficult to abandon afflictions, which is a major transgression. If you want to understand these in detail, then the behavior of desire is to enjoy the qualities of desire, to mostly seek the qualities of others, and not to look for the flaws of faults. The behavior of the hater is to not be very attached to anything, and to mostly seek the faults and shortcomings of others. The behavior of the ignorant is to not abide in anything, and not to be of the nature of abiding and contemplation. Judging from past behavior, the desirous one is one who has mostly done virtuous deeds in the past, and therefore abides in the fruit of happiness, and is seen to have died and been reborn here from the heavenly realm. The hater is one who has mostly done deeds of killing, cutting, and beating in the past, and therefore has died and been reborn here from the hell realm, or the realm of dragons, or the realm of humans, where they always abide in suffering, and because their mind was often disturbed by suffering in the past, wherever they are born, their mind is also disturbed and their hatred is great. The behavior of the ignorant is due to the cause of the past, having drunk a lot of alcohol in the past, or not having done deeds such as listening and writing, and having died and been reborn here from the animal realm. Judging from the cause of the elements, it is earth, water, fire, and wind. If the four great elements are in equal proportion, then the proportion of desire will increase. If the proportion of the fire element and the wind element is large, then hatred will be great.
