It is a fault. Among them, like a vessel with its mouth facing down: for example, if the mouth of the vessel is facing down, even if rain falls from the sky, the water will not gather inside. Just as the rain falling is meaningless, when explaining the scriptures, if one is overwhelmed by distraction and drowsiness, then the rain of Dharma will become meaningless. In order to avoid this fault, it is said, "Listen very carefully," which means to abandon distraction and drowsiness and understand the meaning. Like a vessel filled with unclean things: for example, if rain falls into an unclean vessel, the rainwater will become unclean. Just as the rain falling becomes meaningless, when the rain of Dharma falls, if one's own inverted thoughts grasp the meaning of the scriptures as inverted, then the rain of Dharma will become meaningless. In order to avoid this, it is said, "Listen well," which means to listen without inversion. Like a vessel with holes: for example, even if rain from the sky enters a vessel with holes, it will leak out immediately, and the rain falling becomes meaningless. Similarly, if the rain of the noble Dharma falls, even if one previously understood the meaning and words, etc., but later forgets them, then the rain of Dharma will become meaningless. In order to counteract this, it is said, "Hold it in mind," which means to hold the words and meaning as they are, and do not forget them. The so-called "explanation" means that if one does so, then one will explain; otherwise, the rain of Dharma will become meaningless, so one will not explain. Or, the Tathagata has three kinds of ordained disciples who are like sick people. In order to counteract them, he said, "Very well," etc. Among them, the first sick person is: Some people are afflicted by illness, and their parents, wanting to benefit them, give them beneficial medicine and food, but they cannot eat it, and instead harm their parents who want to benefit them. Similarly, for the ordained Sangha of the Tathagata's scriptures, if they are afflicted by the disease of afflictions, and one wants to give them medicine to counteract the disease of afflictions, and advises them to listen to the initial virtuous Dharma, etc., they cannot listen, and instead harm the Tathagata, the Dharma father who intends to benefit them.

Therefore, he advised to listen very carefully. It means to listen to the scriptures spoken by the Tathagata. The second patient is that parents who want to benefit him give beneficial medicine and food, but he does not eat the beneficial ones, but eats the harmful ones. He also hurts the parents who think it is beneficial to him. Similarly, in the scriptures of the Tathagata, some monks After teaching the excellent Dharma, they do not accept it according to the correct understanding, but accept it according to the wrong understanding. He also hurt the father Tathagata with the Dharma that he thought was beneficial to him. Therefore, he advised to listen carefully. It means not to listen according to the wrong understanding. The third patient is that parents who think it is beneficial to him give beneficial medicine and food, he eats as given, and then vomits it out. He also hurts the parents who think it is beneficial to him. In the teachings of the Tathagata, some monks, as taught, listen to the excellent Dharma, and also understand the words and meanings, but later forget them. He also hurt the father Tathagata with the Dharma that he thought was beneficial to him. Therefore, he advised to remember. It means not to forget the meanings and words that were previously remembered. The so-called "saying" means that the speaker has now finished speaking, and advises you to work hard in practice. The Blessed One placed those monks in an excellent position. The monks also said "Well said" to the Blessed One. Previously, the Blessed One, as advised, listened after eliminating the three faults. In order to show that after eliminating the faults, they began to listen, therefore those monks said to the Blessed One "Listen again". The so-called "listen again" means to listen as the Blessed One said. The so-called "advised in this way" means that what will be said below is advised in this way, and the opening remarks have been completed. In order to explain the summarized meaning afterwards, therefore he said "Monks, what is the Dharma category called clear meaning" and so on. To be known and to be abandoned
