It becomes gentle. Abandoning doubt is being capable. Later, not degenerating is abiding. Obtaining the immovability of the four dhyanas. Thereupon, possessing right view, the mind becomes extremely pure. Possessing right thought, it becomes white, because one does not contemplate reverence and so on. Possessing right speech, it becomes faultless, because one is free from divisive speech and so on. Possessing right action, one becomes free from afflictions, because one strives to perform virtuous deeds and abandon afflictions. Possessing right livelihood, one becomes gentle, because one abides in right view and abandons wrong livelihood. With right effort, one makes it capable. Because one abandons pride, one makes the mind faultless. Possessing right mindfulness, one makes it abide, because one abandons doubt and makes it abide immovably. Possessing right concentration, one makes it obtain immovability, because by the power of concentration, one directly takes the ground of the four dhyanas of the form realm. Then, why are these eight limbs of the noble path arranged in this order? It is said: First, having correctly seen impermanence and so on, then thinking that it is like this and that, after that, one correctly understands. After correctly contemplating, one speaks of the Dharma that has been contemplated, saying that it is the same for others as well. Having thus correctly spoken, one acts accordingly to what has been spoken. Those who perform right action do not have wrong livelihood, so after that is right livelihood. Those who practice right livelihood only have the activity of abandoning non-virtue and performing virtue, so it is right effort. Those who abide in right effort do not have the memory stolen by afflictions, so it is right mindfulness. Not becoming a slave to afflictions, if mindfulness does not degenerate, then the mind constantly abides in one-pointedness, so in the end it is right concentration. Therefore, it is arranged in that order. Among them, according to the Mahayana tenets, the eight limbs of the noble path are explained as the path of cultivation, while the Sravaka Vaibhashika

According to the view of , these eight limbs of the Noble Path are considered to be the essence of the Path of Seeing. Thus, since these eight limbs of the Noble Path are the essence of the Path of Seeing, they are called the Wheel of Dharma. Why? Because they are similar to the precious wheel, they are called the Wheel of Dharma. How are they similar to the precious wheel? Like this, they travel quickly, giving and entering, causing the unvanquished to be victorious, abiding in victory, increasing upwards and falling downwards. For example, just as the precious wheel of a Chakravartin travels quickly, the fifteen moments of consciousness of the Path of Seeing realize the four truths, so it travels quickly. The fifteen moments are the forbearance of the knowledge of Dharma in suffering, the knowledge of Dharma in suffering, the forbearance of the subsequent knowledge in suffering, the knowledge of the subsequent knowledge in suffering, the forbearance of the knowledge of Dharma in the origin, the knowledge of Dharma in the origin, the forbearance of the subsequent knowledge in the origin, the knowledge of the subsequent knowledge in the origin, the forbearance of the knowledge of Dharma in cessation, the knowledge of Dharma in cessation, the forbearance of the subsequent knowledge in cessation, the knowledge of the subsequent knowledge in cessation, the forbearance of the knowledge of Dharma in the path, the knowledge of Dharma in the path, and the forbearance of the subsequent knowledge in the path, thus there are fifteen. The sixteenth moment of the subsequent knowledge of the path belongs to the Path of Meditation, so it is not placed in the Path of Seeing. Among them, seeing impermanence, suffering, emptiness, and selflessness in the truth of suffering of the desire realm is called the forbearance of the knowledge of Dharma in suffering. When seeing in this way, by seeing the suffering of the desire realm, ten types of afflictions that should be abandoned are abandoned, namely the view of the aggregates as self, the view of holding to extremes, wrong views, the view of holding views as supreme, the view of holding ethics and vows as supreme, doubt, desire, anger, pride, and ignorance. After that, knowing that the afflictions have been abandoned, and that there are no afflictions in the later continuum
