The constant use of enjoyments and worldly possessions without satisfaction is existence (srid pa). Furthermore, the terms "having becoming" (yang 'byung ba can), "endowed with joyful desire," and "manifestly rejoicing in this and that" are craving (sred pa). These are the distinctions of craving or the synonyms of the name of craving. Among these, "becoming" refers to future lives, having the characteristic of accomplishing future lives, or it is also called "becoming" because it is the nature or cause that produces it. "Endowed with joyful desire" means having the nature of attachment and clinging to future bodies and enjoyments. "Manifestly rejoicing in this and that" means that future sentient beings make aspirations for various abodes, such as "May I become a god, may I become a human, may I become Brahma." Alternatively, the craving that is the cause of seeking what has not been found, and so on, is called "craving with becoming." Focusing particularly on objects that have been found and encountered, and engaging in activities such as guarding them because one does not want to be separated from them, is called "endowed with joyful desire." Suffering from separation from encountered objects and making aspirations is called "manifestly rejoicing in this and that." Alternatively, encountering pleasant feelings and clinging to them without separation is called "craving with becoming." Not encountering painful feelings and wishing to be separated from them is called "endowed with joyful desire." Clinging to the feeling of equanimity in meditation, which is neither pleasant nor painful, is called "manifestly rejoicing in this and that." Alternatively, aspiring to encounter things that have not been found is called "craving with mind-becoming." Engaging in seeking the things that have been aspired to is called "endowed with joyful desire." Engaging in increasing the things that have been sought is called "manifestly rejoicing in this and that." Alternatively, four types of craving are taught in relation to the objects and powers of the self that have been found and not found. Among these, not wanting to be separated from the self's body that has been found is craving. Wanting to encounter and possess the self's body that has not been found is having becoming. Constantly associating with objects such as form that have been found

Wanting to desire is having joyful desire. Wanting to encounter objects such as form that have not been obtained is called manifesting joy in them. The five aggregates that have become the cause from the Dharma that transcends manifestation are called the truth of the origin, or karma and afflictions are called the truth of the origin. So, how does that manifest? The sutra says that suffering, origin, world, place of view, and craving are all synonyms. Because of this, the meaning here is that the five aggregates that have become the result are suffering. The five aggregates that have become the cause are the origin. The five aggregates themselves are of the nature of destruction, so they are the world. Sentient beings regard the five aggregates as self, so they are the place of view. It transmigrates from one life to another and causes birth, so it is craving. It is also said that karma and craving are ignorance, and action is the cause of the future. In this sutra, craving is said to be the origin, which contradicts other sutras. This sutra says: Monks, if these five kinds of seeds are not formed, not decayed, not rotten, not damaged by wind, etc., and are well sown, and there is also an earth element, and there are also water, fire, and wind elements, then these seeds will grow, grow more, and become very large. Similarly, monks, in order to understand this meaning, this is like a metaphor, the five kinds of seeds are called the synonyms of the five aggregates of close grasping. The earth element and so on are the synonyms of the four abodes of consciousness, and in the four abodes of consciousness, consciousness is also close to form, consciousness is close to feeling, consciousness is close to perception, and consciousness is close to formation. Among them, the desire realm is consciousness relying on form, so it is called consciousness close to form. The four dhyanas of the form realm are consciousness relying on pleasant feeling, so it is called consciousness close to feeling. In the formless realm
