眼睛充满泪水，烟雾使声音嘶哑，失去所有财产和宝藏等物品，独自一人不高兴，在不情愿的情况下不得不无奈地离去，因此死亡是痛苦的。或者，做了非福德之事的人，会感受眼睛等五根衰竭的难以忍受的痛苦，被阎罗王的罗刹和饿鬼等围绕，在生命力未断绝之前就被束缚和恐吓等，产生痛苦，生命力断绝后，也会无奈地被带往众生地狱之处，因此死亡是痛苦的。或者，所谓的死亡，如同须弥山一样，风也无法撼动；如同火焰一样，焚烧一切；如同嗔怒者一样，像对待人一样，总是伤害众生，使之痛苦；如同海浪一样，不会错过时机；如同金刚一样，摧毁蕴聚之山；如同狂风一样，吹倒堆积之物；如同冰雹一样，摧毁寿命的行作；如同罪人一样，没有慈悲；如同大象一样，难以战胜；如同勇士一样，摧毁他人；如同时间一样，毫不留情地到来。因此，死亡是痛苦的。其他经文中说，有由出生之缘而死，有因放逸而死，有因恶戒而死，这些有什么区别呢？回答说：由于智慧的力量衰退，所以是因放逸而死。由于与清净的戒律相分离，所以是因恶戒而死。由于生命力中断，所以是因出生之缘而死。或者，由于不听闻正法，不思维，不修习，所以是因放逸而死。由于与比丘的物品相分离，所以是因恶戒而死。由于与同类和同等福分相分离，所以是因出生之缘而死。所谓的与友分离之苦，是指凡是属于有情或非有情之列的可爱之境，与之分离，就叫做与友分离。或者，自己的青春、无病、长寿、种姓、美貌

Eyes filled with tears, voice hoarse with smoke, losing all possessions and treasures, alone and unhappy, having to go unwillingly and helplessly, therefore death is suffering. Or, those who have done non-virtuous deeds experience the unbearable suffering of the five senses, such as the eyes, failing, surrounded by the Rakshasas of Yama and pretas, etc., being bound and threatened even before the life force is cut off, causing suffering, and even after the life force is cut off, being helplessly led to the hellish realms of beings, therefore death is suffering. Or, this so-called death, like Mount Meru, cannot be moved even by the wind; like fire, it consumes everything; like an angry person, it always harms beings, causing them suffering; like ocean waves, it does not miss its time; like a vajra, it destroys the mountain of aggregates; like the wind, it topples piled-up things; like hail, it destroys the formations of life; like a sinner, it has no compassion; like an elephant, it is difficult to conquer; like a hero, it destroys others; like time, it comes without fail. Therefore, death is suffering. In other sutras, it is said that there is death due to the cause of birth, death due to carelessness, and death due to bad morality. What is the difference between these? It is said: Because the power of wisdom is weakened, it is death due to carelessness. Because of being separated from pure morality, it is death due to bad morality. Because the life force is cut off, it is death due to the cause of birth. Or, because one does not listen to the holy Dharma, does not contemplate, and does not meditate, it is death due to carelessness. Because of being separated from the possessions of a monk, it is death due to bad morality. Because of being separated from those of the same kind and the same fortune, it is death due to the cause of birth. The so-called suffering of separation from friends refers to the separation from any desirable object that belongs to the category of sentient or non-sentient beings, which is called separation from friends. Or, one's own youth, health, longevity, lineage, and beauty.

以及，贫穷以及，失去享用以及，与亲戚朋友分离，这被称为与友爱分离。或者，持戒者们善业完全衰退，这是与友爱分离。或者，在三种感受中，失去快乐的感受，这是与友爱分离。或者，天和人等善趣的众生从善趣之处退失，堕入恶趣，这是与友爱分离。为什么呢？与友爱分离是痛苦的，这是什么意思呢？像这样，由于与友爱分离的缘故，众生如同被森林大火焚烧一般，总是被巨大悲伤之火焚烧内心，发出大声哭喊，因此，与友爱分离是痛苦的。或者，从天界等安乐之处转移，在地域等恶趣之处出生，因此，会遭受各种痛苦，所以与友爱分离是痛苦的。或者，即使是怀疑、听到、看到或回忆起与友爱分离，也会产生悲伤、哀嚎、痛苦、不悦和混乱等，所以，与友爱分离是痛苦的。或者，如同因失去父母兄弟等亲属而引起的魔障所害一样，说出各种胡话和昏厥一样失去记忆，如同失去一切财产一样，一切众生都陷入混乱，无法忆起一切应做和不应做之事，身体几乎倒在地上，因此，与友爱分离也是痛苦的。与不悦意相遇的痛苦，是指不善业的等流果，众生与地狱等相遇，这是与不悦意相遇。一切众生都希望快乐并渴望远离痛苦，但由于产生痛苦感受的工具临近的缘故，体验到痛苦的感受，这是与不悦意相遇。或者，与不值得交往的人交往，这是与不悦意相遇。或者，对于具有戒律的人来说，出现恶劣的行为，这是与不悦意相遇，即罪过。

And, poverty and, loss of enjoyment and, separation from relatives and friends, this is called separation from affection. Or, when virtuous people's virtuous deeds completely decline, this is separation from affection. Or, among the three kinds of feelings, losing the feeling of happiness, this is separation from affection. Or, when beings in good realms such as gods and humans decline from good realms and fall into bad realms, this is separation from affection. Why is it that separation from affection is suffering? Like this, because of the cause of separation from affection, beings are like being burned by a forest fire, always being burned in their hearts by the fire of great sorrow, uttering loud cries and weeping, therefore, separation from affection is suffering. Or, having moved from happy places such as the heavens, and being born in bad places such as hells, therefore, one will experience various sufferings, so separation from affection is suffering. Or, even if one suspects, hears, sees, or remembers separation from affection, sorrow, lamentation, suffering, displeasure, and confusion, etc., will arise, so separation from affection is suffering. Or, just as being harmed by a demonic influence arising from the loss of relatives such as parents and siblings, speaking all kinds of nonsense and fainting, losing memory as if losing all possessions, all beings become confused, unable to remember all that should and should not be done, the body almost collapses to the ground, therefore, separation from affection is also suffering. The suffering of encountering the unpleasant means the result corresponding to the cause of unwholesome actions, beings encountering hells, etc., this is encountering the unpleasant. All beings desire happiness and long to be free from suffering, but because the instruments that produce painful feelings are near, experiencing painful feelings, this is encountering the unpleasant. Or, associating with people who are not worth associating with, this is encountering the unpleasant. Or, for those who possess discipline, bad behavior occurs, this is encountering the unpleasant, that is, transgression.
