Calling out loudly, shouting, destroying, black rope, and reviving. The Avīci hell is located twenty thousand yojanas below this Jambudvīpa. The expanse of that Avīci hell is also twenty thousand yojanas, and the middle is also twenty thousand yojanas. In general, those places become forty thousand yojanas. There is not even a slight gap, so it is called Avīci because it is uninterrupted. Or, because suffering itself is diverse and arises without interruption, it is Avīci. Like that, in that hell, great fires arise burning in the ten directions, and because the fire burns intensely, it burns the bodies of sentient beings, and the hell guards holding iron spear tips lift them up with the spear tips and continuously boil them in large cauldrons, therefore, it is called Avīci. The lifespan of the sentient beings in Avīci hell is one kalpa, and they die there. Among them, the seven hot hells, such as the extremely hot hell, are located above that Avīci hell, gradually stacked one above the other. Above Avīci is the extremely hot hell. Above the extremely hot hell is the hot hell. Above the hot hell is the loud crying hell. Above the loud crying hell is the crying hell. Above the crying hell is the destroying hell. Above the destroying hell is the Black Rope Hell. Above the Black Rope Hell is the reviving hell. Some say that those seven hot hells are located on the surface of the Avīci hell. Compared to the hot hell, because it is even hotter, and the body and mind are extremely tormented, it is the extremely hot hell. The lifespan of that extremely hot hell is half an intermediate kalpa, and they die there. The flames of great fire surround the body and burn it, everywhere is hot and painful, this is called the hot hell, its lifespan is sixteen thousand years, counting one day and night of the Paranirmitavasavartin gods as its lifespan, and they die there. The loud crying hell is because they are tormented by many unbearable intense heats, and even crying out is unbearable. Suffering! They cry out loudly, its lifespan is the lifespan of the Nirmanarati gods.

If calculated as one day, one can live for eight thousand years. The cry of agony arises because beings being slaughtered and the maturation of unpleasant karma torment them, causing them to suffer and cry out pitifully. The lifespan there is, calculated by considering the lifespan of the gods of Tushita as one day, four thousand years. Crushing refers to many mountains and rocks resembling sheep gathering and crushing each other to death. The lifespan there is, calculated by considering the lifespan of the twin gods as one day, two hundred years until death. Black Line refers to, just as a carpenter marks wood with a line and saws it, similarly, after marking with a black line, sawing from the head or waist and passing away. The lifespan there is, calculated by considering the lifespan of the thirty-three gods as one day, one thousand years until death. Revival refers to beings born there cutting and harming each other to death, remaining in a state of unconsciousness, being blown by cold winds, and a voice from the sky saying, "Beings, revive!" After reviving, they harm each other. The lifespan there is, calculated by considering the lifespan of the gods of the Four Great Kings' retinue as one day, five hundred years until death. The great hot hells have eight, each with four gates. One gate plus the remaining four hells, totaling sixteen hells. The remaining four hells are: a pit of fire, unclean mud, a path of weapons filled with swords, and a river of alkaline water. Among them, the pit of fire is about knee-deep. There, as soon as the beings' feet enter, all flesh, blood, and skin are burned away. Unclean mud is filled with extremely foul-smelling vomit and sludge. Inside it, there is a worm called Kunda, with a gray body and a black head, its mouth like a needle, which drills the bones of the beings who enter there into ash.
