Because one is not born in this place, one is called a Non-returner. The fruit of an Arhat is to abandon the formations that lead to non-movement, because it abandons the karmic predispositions of attachment to meditative stabilizations from the peak of existence downwards, therefore one attains the fruit of an Arhat. If ignorance exists, then three types of karma are manifestly performed, therefore it is called formations conditioned by ignorance. Ignorance also becomes a condition for formations through the causal condition, the immediately preceding condition, the objective condition, and the dominant condition. For the remaining limbs, it should also be understood that the four conditions of the former act as conditions for the latter. How the four conditions become conditions should be examined as explained before. Thus, after manifestly accumulating the three types of karma, the first mental consciousness that enters and faints in the place of birth, such as the mother's womb, is called consciousness conditioned by formations. Thus, in the first moment, after the mental consciousness faints in the mother's womb, from the second moment onwards, the blood and semen of the parents mix, and in the stage of being a jelly-like and thick substance, it is called name and form. Among these, feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness, the four formless aggregates are name. The stage of being a jelly-like and thick substance is form. After that, having passed from the jelly-like and thick substance, in the mother's womb, the faculties such as the eyes and ears arise, and the six faculties arise separately, it is called the six sense sources conditioned by name and form. After that, after the faculties have arisen, when the faculty, the object, and consciousness meet at the same time, it is called contact conditioned by the six sense sources. After that, having met with a pleasant object, the feeling of comfort that makes the body and mind relaxed is the feeling of pleasure, and having met with an unpleasant object, the feeling of suffering that makes the body and mind distressed is the feeling of pain, and having met with an object that is neither pleasant nor unpleasant, the feeling that has neither comfort nor distress in body and mind, the arising of neither pleasure nor pain, is called feeling conditioned by contact. Thus, after having feeling, one becomes attached to meeting with the feeling of pleasure.

Happiness and joy arise from being separated from suffering, which is called craving because of feeling. Thus, having craving, one takes up those feelings that have become the means of happiness, which is called taking up because of craving. Thus, having a collection of afflictions such as craving and taking up, one manifestly performs virtuous and non-virtuous actions, which is called existence because of taking up. Thus, having action and affliction, consciousness transmigrates to this and that place of birth, and the aggregates, elements, and sense bases, etc., arise, which is called birth because of existence. Thus, having been born, just as a tree is burned by fire or carried away by water, the characteristics of the aggregates aging, and the characteristics of death, which is the cessation of joy and the activities of life, occur, which is called aging and death because of birth. Sorrow and lamentation, etc., are included in the limbs of aging and death. From actions due to ignorance to aging and death due to birth, the twelve links of dependent origination arise in interdependence. There are two kinds of aging: the aging of the support and the aging of what depends on it. The aging of the support refers to the aging of the four great elements belonging to the form aggregate, resulting in wrinkles and white hair, etc., and the body becoming heavy when rising and sitting. The aging of what depends on it refers to the fact that as the faculties age, the consciousnesses that depend on them also do not clearly see and hear forms and sounds, etc., and forget what was previously done and said. There are two kinds of death: dying at the proper time and dying untimely. Dying at the proper time refers to the exhaustion of the power of the activities of life that exist in this life, so that warmth, consciousness, and life abandon the body. Untimely death refers to suddenly dying from being struck by weapons and sticks, etc., by others, or being suddenly killed by asuras, etc., who have blessed one for craving sinful dharmas, which is untimely death. Mental anguish arising from meeting with loved ones and unloved ones is sorrow. Verbal expression arising from the cause of sorrow is lamentation.
