Returning. The meaning of 'without sentient beings' is that ignorance and so on are not the nature of the self as conceived by non-Buddhists. The meaning of 'dependent arising' is that ignorance and so on cannot arise by themselves, but arise from the power of causes and conditions. The meaning of 'without movement' is that ignorance does not think, 'I have produced action'; nor does action think, 'I am born from ignorance.' The meaning of 'impermanence' is that ignorance and so on are not permanent phenomena. The meaning of 'momentariness' is that they arise and perish without staying for two moments. The meaning of 'the continuity of cause and effect' is that, like the high and low of a balance, the moment of the cause ceases and the moment of the effect does not arise simultaneously. The meaning of 'cause and effect are dissimilar' is that not everything arises from everything. For example, from a barley seed, a barley sprout arises, but not a wheat sprout. Giving becomes great enjoyment, but not other things. The meaning of 'cause and effect are diverse' is that from many causes, many kinds of effects arise. For example, from barley, barley arises; from wheat, wheat arises; from giving, enjoyment arises; from morality, higher realms arise. Like that. The meaning of 'cause and effect are determined separately' is that from non-virtue, unpleasant results definitely arise, and from virtue, pleasant results definitely arise. How is dependent arising profound? Dependent arising is profound because its cause is profound, its nature is profound, its arising is profound, its abiding is profound, and its entering is profound. Among these, the profundity of the cause is shown in two ways, as an antidote to those who assert dissimilar causes and those who assert no cause, that is, the meaning of 'without a maker' and the meaning of 'having a cause.' Among these, the meaning of 'without a maker' is shown as an antidote to those who assert that things arise from dissimilar causes, such as Ishvara. The meaning of 'having a cause' is shown as an antidote to those who assert that things arise without a cause. The profundity of the nature is that all dependent arisings

Because of non-existence. That is, it is shown by the single meaning of "no sentient beings." The profound arising is that those dependent arising dharmas arise from conditions, but the cause is not the maker of the effect, which is shown by the two meanings of mental control, meaninglessness, and immovability. Therein, because the effect arises from the power of the conditions, it is the meaning of other-dependence. However, the conditions are not the maker, because there is no thought that the field owner creates, so it is the meaning of immovability. The profound abiding is because the non-abiding dharmas also appear to abide, which is shown by the meaning of impermanence and the meaning of momentariness, because it is not constant, and it disintegrates in each moment, but it appears as if it abides. The profound entering is because it is difficult to know that cause and effect arise continuously. That is, the meaning of cause and effect being continuous, the meaning of cause and effect being harmonious, the meaning of cause and effect being diverse, and the meaning of cause and effect being determined separately, are shown by four aspects. The good distinction is to understand ten aspects, namely: the good distinction of the arising of consciousness, the good distinction of birth and death, the good distinction of the arising of external grains and so on, the good distinction of arising and disintegration, the good distinction shown by food, the good distinction of pleasant and unpleasant migrations, the good distinction of purification, and the good distinction of power. Therein, the good distinction of the arising of consciousness refers to the arising of eye consciousness based on the eye and form, and so on. The good distinction of birth and death refers to, in terms of the sentient world, from ignorance as the condition for action, up to old age and death as the condition for birth. The good distinction of the arising of external grains and so on refers to, from the seed as the condition for the sprout, up to the fruit as the condition for the flower. The good distinction of arising and disintegration refers to, relying on the power of the common karma of all sentient beings, on top of the wind mandala is the water mandala.
