, and the branches are explained in detail. Among them, the characteristic is to understand the three characteristics of dependent origination, namely: arising from immutable causes, arising from impermanent causes, and arising from potent causes. Among them, arising from immutable causes means: merely because there are causes, the result arises, but for this, neither the agent nor the causes themselves would think, "I created these." Arising from impermanent causes means: because the result arises from the cause, these dharmas are impermanent. If they were permanent, then nothing would arise from anything. Arising from potent causes means: from ignorance, actions can be produced, and from birth, old age and death can be produced. Among them, the summary of the branches is: the twelve branches of dependent origination are summarized into five branches, namely: the projecting branch, the projected branch, the manifesting branch, the manifested branch, and the fault branch. Among them, at the time of the cause, it is divided into who projects and who is projected. At the time of the result, it is divided into who manifests and who is manifested. So, who projects? It is ignorance, action, and consciousness that project. Due to the power of ignorance, the habits of good and non-virtuous deeds are instilled in the consciousness of the mind, thereby projecting the ripening aggregates in the next life. Who is projected? It is name and form, the six sense bases, contact, and feeling that are projected. Due to the cause of the previous three, name and form, etc., rely on the previous ones, thereby producing the subsequent ones. The manifesting branches are: craving, grasping, and existence. Because the craving for the qualities of desire has not been abandoned, attachment to the three realms arises, and the habits of karma increase, so that the result can mature even at the time of death. The manifested branch is birth. Old age and death are the branches of fault. How are the branches placed as causes and conditions? The branches are placed with four types of causes and conditions.

What are established as conditions? They are the causal condition, the immediately preceding condition, the objective condition, and the dominant condition. Among these, the causal condition is the latent tendencies of ignorance. When established in the consciousness of the mind, they become the cause of action, because by its power, action is manifestly accomplished. The immediately preceding condition is that when the previous moment of ignorance has ceased, action arises. If ignorance has not ceased, action does not arise. The objective condition is that due to the cause of being universally deluded about things, by attending to permanence and happiness, etc., one manifestly performs actions. The dominant condition is that just as the consciousness of the eye arises due to the condition of the eye faculty, action arises due to the power of ignorance. The remaining limbs should also be applied in the same way. How are the functions of the limbs established? Ignorance performs two functions: it deludes sentient beings by causing them to grasp at impermanent things as permanent, and it becomes the condition for action. Among these, deluding sentient beings means that because they are obscured by ignorance, they do not know the past and future, and such times. Therefore, they doubt whether they existed in the past or did not exist, and whether they will exist in the future or will not exist. Becoming the condition for action means that if there is ignorance, then by its power, they manifestly perform the actions of future existence. Action also performs two functions: it connects sentient beings to the realms of existence, and it becomes the condition for consciousness. Among these, connecting sentient beings to the realms of existence means that if there is action, then by its power, sentient beings will be born in the five realms in future lives. If there is no action, then even if there are afflictions, they cannot be born because they have no support. Becoming the condition for consciousness means that the latent tendencies of action, because of the need for the consciousness of the mind, the consciousness of the mind will enter the mother's womb in the future. Consciousness also performs two functions: it serves as the basis for the actions of sentient beings, and it becomes the condition for name and form.
